AMD Ryzen 9: 7900X3D #3 in sales, 7950X3D sold out
The current sales figures from Mindfactory show that AMD’s new Ryzen 9 7900X3D is very popular at launch. Data on the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, on the other hand, is missing because AMD’s new gaming flagship is sold out.
In the last few weeks and months, the forum has often read that gamers want to wait for AMD’s new Ryzen 7000 processors with X3D cache when making a new purchase. In the meantime, the first two corresponding models, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D and the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, have appeared, and as a result there are now the first sales figures. These were, as usual, by Twitter users @TechEpiphany published, which summarizes the publicly visible data of the hardware dealer Mindfactory.
A successful launch?
According to the data published by TechEpiphany, the launch was in particular the Ryzen 9 7900X3D popular: By Thursday, 360 models had been sold over the virtual shop counter. But that’s not enough for first place in the CPUs, because the recently become significantly cheaper Ryzen 7 5800X3D. A whopping 490 of these were sold, followed by the Ryzen 7 5700X with 400 in second place. The new X3D processor only takes third place 3, but it is still the most successful model of the current generation.
Unfortunately, the list does not show where the new gaming top model Ryzen 9 7950X3D should be placed in the ranking. The background is missing data: the processor is sold out at almost all retailers and is only being sold offered at inflated prices. For this reason, Mindfactory has the 7950X3D product page temporarily offline, so that the sales figures are not visible. It is still unclear whether the processor is sold out due to a low delivery quantity or due to extremely high demand.
At least for the Ryzen 9 7900X3D, it should be clear that the launch was successful. Although no tests have yet been published for the model, the cheapest Ryzen 7000 processor with X3D cache to date is selling well. This is also shown by the comparison to the launch of the first Ryzen 7000 CPUs: At that time the Ryzen 9 7950X was that best-selling model of the generationbut only 280 models were implemented.

In addition to the sales figures for the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, there is also the outstanding model for the future: The Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Although this will only be released in a month, it could possibly succeed with a lower price in finally knocking the old Ryzen 7 5800X3D off the sales throne. Of course, it remains to be seen whether this will actually happen.
