The new fable is said to be inspired by The Witcher – And what about Hellblade 2, Avowed and Co.?

The next Fable is said to be inspired by the Witcher series.

This news should come as a surprise, especially for fans.

How about Fable?

Jordan Middler says on the latest episode of the VGC-Podcasts that during the talks around the new Fable in 2021 and 2022 there were some difficulties at the executive level. Apparently they didn’t know exactly what the new part should look like.

On top of that, Middler isn’t sure if a game in the style of the original would still be relevant today. He also heard that the next part is often referred to as “Witcher-like”. Jeff Gerstmann, who also participated in the podcast, then wondered why the game should still be called Fable. Good question right?

Host Andy Robinson notes that full production of the game has only recently begun, which is interesting given that the game was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase back in July 2020. On the other hand, if there were disagreements in the two years that followed, it wouldn’t be entirely surprising.

At the moment, however, it is still unclear what exactly the Witcher inspirations could mean. It is uncertain when we will officially hear something about the new fable again.

Other Xbox titles were also mentioned in the podcast. Word is Hellblade 2 and Avowed will be the next big Microsoft games after Starfield, followed by Rares Everwild – which is also struggling – and finally Fable.
