Cities: Skylines 2 Announced – Coming Later This Year!
When it comes to city builders, few games in recent years have come close to the hugely popular Cities: Skylines. Eight years after its release, the game is still one of the absolute favorites for many city builders, and the Paradox development studio has released numerous DLCs over the past few years that only made the title even better. However, after all this time, players were understandably hoping for something brand new to do with Cities: Skylines, and Paradox Interactive certainly didn’t disappoint that group of players in their livestream event today.
Cities: Skylines 2 in the announcement trailer
Instead of a new DLC or something like that, we got the announcement of Cities: Skylines (buy now / €25.19 ) 2, with the accompanying announcement trailer. The announcement alone will surely please most genre fans, but Paradox announced even more good news as Cities: Skylines 2 is scheduled to be released later this year. There is no exact release date yet, but players will probably have to wait a maximum of nine months before they can design their own city in a brand new Cities: Skylines offshoot.
The title will be released for PC via Steam as well as Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There will probably not be a version for Nintendo Switch or the older generation of consoles, but the game will be part of Xbox Game Pass, where we can most likely expect a Day 1 release.
The official Steam page for the game can already be viewed, where the title describes itself as the “most realistic city builder”. Cities: Skylines 2 can also be added to the wish list here, but it is not yet possible to pre-order. That’s why we don’t know yet whether there will be a deluxe edition or something similar. The system requirements are also not yet known, but if you look at those of the first offshoot, they will hopefully not be too high.
