Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi is finally getting a new installment after 16 years
Fighting game fans can already enjoy a new Dragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichi game.
Long before Dragon Ball FighterZ, there was already a very successful fighting game series from the Dragon Ball universe with the Budokai Tenkaichi games. The last main part was released 16 years ago, but there is really good news: Bandai Namco surprisingly announced a new game in the series.
Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi continues
What is this about? A teaser trailer was shown at a Dragon Ball FighterZ tournament called Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour. In the first there were some scenes from the old ones Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi– to see the games. This is followed by the transformation of Son Goku – and the series.
We notably see Son Goku transforming into his Super Saiyan Blue form. All around, the picture is getting better and more modern, the look is reminiscent of the new anime films or Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Last, but not least, it says in a lettering that we should get ready for battle. A new “sparking” begins: That’s the original name of the Budokai Tenkaichi series in Japan, as an allusion to the title song lyrics of the first Dragon Ball anime series.

What exactly is coming? Unfortunately, that is not certain yet. Of course, a new part would be conceivable, and with it Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4. However, it is questionable whether the Z will remain in the name, apparently much later techniques such as the SSGSS also appear in the game.
A kind of soft reboot of the series would also be conceivable. The new Dragon Ball (Z): Budokai Tenkaichi could also span the various eras of the manga and anime series in terms of content, right up to the Dragon Ball Super days.
On which platforms? Unfortunately, there are no concrete announcements about this either. But we just assume that the new Dragon Ball game from Bandai Namco, like the last such releases, will appear at least on the current consoles PS5 and Xbox Series S/X as well as the PC.
What do you think of the announcement? Are you looking forward to the new Dragon Ball: Bzudokai Tenkaichi game?
