As part of yesterday Level 5 Showcase has the Japanese studio, creators of well-known game series like Professor Layton, Inazuma Eleven and Ni no Kunisurprisingly for 2023 the release of the mech action RPG Megaton Musashi – Wired announced. This is an expanded edition of the 2022 launched only in Japan at the same time as an accompanying anime series Megaton Musashiavailable on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and PC (Steam) will appear.

The American website NintendoLife.com tested the Japanese edition and already at that time a publication for the Western market was required, but also identified potential for improvement.

In the game you construct your own mech – the eponymous Musashi is such – and compete together with friends in 3v3 online battles. Cross-platform crossplay should also be supported. After each mission, you’ll receive random loot that you can use to further improve your mechanical companion. However, you will not only find weapons, but also chips and entire circuit boards, with which you can also modify the inner workings of the mech and thus carry more and stronger equipment – a principle that level 5 already has in the 3DS mini-mech RPG LBX – Little Battlers Experience has implemented.

In addition to the Mechs from the Megaton Musashi universe, collaborations with other Mecha IPs such as UFO Robot Grendizer, Chōdenji Robo Combattler V and Voltes V planned. These mechs will gradually be integrated into the Japanese game that has already been released and will then also be available when Wired comes out. The developers want to reveal more details before publication.
