Unlike Dead Island: Riptide, Dead Island 2 will not have a fully open world. Rather, Dambuster presents us with select areas that don’t feel like a hose level.
The fact that Dead Island doesn’t have a crammed open world is also noticeable in the game time. The developer studio has now revealed how long the zombie island will keep us busy.
Dead Island 2 game time revealed
What is the game time of Dead Island 2? In an interview with GamePro, creative director James Worrall estimated the game time at around 15 to 20 hours. Since Dambuster wants to hand in DLCs in the future, the season will expand accordingly.
According to Worrall, if you want to complete the 100 percent, you have to work twice as long as the season 30-40 hours of play.
In addition, Design Director thinks Adam Duckettthat players around 20 hours will be busy with the game. The game time includes not only the main story, but also a few side missions.
We have already been able to test Dead Island 2. Annika reveals what she particularly liked about Dead Island 2:
Game time should ensure high replay value
Why not longer? Duckett explains that when it came to playtime, the team thought of those who have commitments and hobbies outside of video games. Therefore, the time spent in the game should be as fun as possible without being artificially lengthened:
That too [die Spielzeit] was a design choice for us. We know people want to do things outside of games, so we wanted to focus on making that experience as enjoyable as possible.
The following video shows what Dead Island 2 has to offer in terms of gameplay:
Dead Island 2 shows almost 14 minutes of new gameplay
In addition, the title should be designed in such a way that it has a high replay value. This is the reason why Dambuster decided not to choose a lengthy playing time. After the first run, six different characters and the deck-building system should help keep gamers motivated for further runs.
The release of Dead Island 2 was moved forward to the delight of all fans. The zombie adventure will now be released on April 21, 2023 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
