Diablo 4: All information about the beta with preload, dates, content & rewards

Until the release of diablo 4 it still takes a few months, but before that there will be another one open beta give. We summarize all dates for you and what content is in the test version.

  • When does Diablo 4 open beta start?
  • Pre-order: Who can start playing earlier?
  • Dates for the preload
  • The system requirements at a glance
  • What content is playable?
  • What classes can be created?
  • Dates for the fight against the world boss
  • Are there rewards in the open beta?
  • Will the progress carry over?
  • What about Item Shop and Battle Pass?

The rule is that pre-orders can get a taste of the open beta a little earlier. On the other hand, if you don’t trust the roast, you won’t go away empty-handed, but there will also be an open beta for all players who are interested in the upcoming Blizzard game.

Diablo 4: When does the open beta start?

The open beta is divided into two because it takes place on two different weekends. However, only pre-orderers will be allowed to travel to Sanctuary during the first date, and only a week later for all players who have not yet decided to pre-order. Incidentally, the beta is available for all platforms, i.e. PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S

Open Beta for pre-orders:

  • Begin: Friday March 17, 2023 at 5:00 p.m
  • End: Monday March 20, 2023 at 8:00 p.m

Open Beta for all players:

  • Begin: Friday March 24, 2023 at 5:00 p.m
  • End: Monday March 27, 2023 at 9:00 p.m

Whether there will be another beta afterwards remains to be seen. After all, Diablo 4 is only supposed to be released in June, which is why there would still be room for another test phase, at least in theory. So far, however, nothing has been announced in this regard.

Pre-order: Who can enter the Open Beta earlier?

As I said, the first beta weekend is reserved for those who pre-order Diablo 4. This is not tied to a special version, i.e. you don’t necessarily have to buy the expensive Ultimate Edition. Even with the standard version, you automatically get access to the open beta.

You also don’t have to pre-order the beta digitally. From the communication Blizzard says there are also special codes that give you access to the open beta. This may apply to all players who have pre-ordered their version from retailers or mail order companies.

Preload: The dates for the pre-download

You can download the beta in advance so that you can get started in time for the start of the beta – provided the servers are playing along. However, like the beta itself, the preload is divided into two parts, which is why there are different dates.

  • Preload for pre-order: From Wednesday 15 March at 17:00
  • Preload for Open Beta: From Wednesday 22 March at 17:00

If you have already downloaded the beta as a pre-order, you do not need to download it again for the open beta.

The system requirements at a glance:

Meanwhile, PC players can breathe a sigh of relief, because Diablo 4 does not require a high-end computer. Instead, even hardware that is a bit outdated is enough to get a first impression of the action role-playing game.

Minimum requirements:

What is playable in the Diablo 4 Open Beta?

The Diablo 4 beta will not include the entire game, but will be limited in content. So you can only play the prologue and the first act extensively, but all later acts and the endgame are locked. The first act includes the area “The Shattered Peaks”, which you can freely explore. The other areas of the open world, which each belong to their own files, are not accessible.

Which classes are playable?

The answer to this question is also twofold. Only three classes will be available in the pre-order beta: the barbarian, the sorceress and the hunter. Only on the second weekend do the necromancer and the druid come along and can be tested extensively.

In total, you can create up to ten characters in the beta and find out which class suits you best. However, the maximum level is limited to 25, although you can still see most of the skills.

More information about the individual classes and what makes them special, Incidentally, you can get it in our class overview for Diablo 4.

World Boss: When will this be available?

During the beta, Blizzard will also unleash a world boss on the world of Sanctuary at certain times. More specifically, awaits you in the Shattered Peaks Ashava, the hurricane of corruption. According to the developer, you cannot defeat this alone, but the fights are designed to be mastered by a whole group.

Blizzard is using the beta to test how well this works, which is why Ashava will only be available at certain times. If you wanted to take part in the fight, you should be ready on the following days:

  • pre-order: March 18 at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and March 19 at 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m
  • open beta: March 25 at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and March 26 at 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m

What rewards are there?

If you play the Diablo 4 Open Beta, you can dust off three rewards for the full version. These are two titles and a cosmetic item, which is particularly useful for wolf fans. All rewards at a glance:

  • Title: First slain – Unlocked once you reach Kyovashad City with a character
  • Title: Former explorer – Unlocked once you reach level 20 on a character
  • Cosmetic item: Beta Wolf Pack – Unlocked when you reach level 20 on a character

Is beta progress saved?

There is no official statement as to whether your game progress can be carried over from the beta to the full version. However, based on previous betas of Blizzard games, it’s unlikely and your characters will likely be deleted after the beta ends.

Item shop and Battle Pass

However, what will probably not be part of the beta is Diablo 4’s item shop. It has been known for a long time that Blizzard will rely on microtransactions for the latest coup in its action role-playing game series. Only cosmetic items that do not bring any playful advantage should be sold.

In addition, also a Battle Pass for Diablo 4 planned, which also features primarily skins and other cosmetic rewards. The Battle Pass will probably not be tested in the beta either, but probably at the earliest release from Diablo 4 am June 6, 2023.
