Geforce RTX 4070 well over $500 [Gerücht]

Geforce RTX 3060 8 GB tested: This costs the memory configuration

from Andrew Link
The Geforce RTX 4070 (without Ti) could be noticeably more expensive than previously thought. $749 is now being brought into play.

With rumors already suggesting that the Geforce RTX 4060 (Ti) will serve the $500 class, it’s hardly surprising that the Geforce RTX 4070 will be more expensive. Supposedly, according to the YouTube channel, Nvidia Moore’s Law Is Dead Calling $749 for the card. That would be significantly more than expected and would also leave a considerable gap in the price range if a Geforce RTX 4060 Ti is to be offered for 499 US dollars. Meanwhile, a Geforce RTX 4070 Ti costs just $50 more.

Logically, these are only the US MSRP prices for the standard cards. Nvidia’s board partners will also offer more expensive cards, reportedly around $800, while premium models can sometimes cost even more.

Compared to the previous generation, that’s a respectable increase, if it’s correct. The Geforce RTX 4070 would be 250 US dollars more expensive on paper than a Geforce RTX 3070. But you probably won’t get 50 percent more performance. It is estimated that the Geforce RTX 4070 sorts itself between the Geforce RTX 3080 and the RTX 3080 Ti in terms of performance. However, the latter are hard to come by and range between 600 and 850 US dollars on the market. There is currently no real alternative from AMD with RDNA 3 technology.

The Nvidia Geforce RTX 4070 is expected to come with the AD104-250/251. The GPU will likely feature 5,888 FP32 shaders and 12 GiB GDDR6X clocked at 21 Gbps. There seem to be three PCB boards for the Geforce RTX 4070 graphics cards. The test embargo is expected to be lifted on April 12th, with sales starting on April 13th.
