WoW: Turalyon and the Scarlet Crusade – an alliance?

Keep your eyes open! The books are well hidden in the grass behind the trees by the roadside.

The Scarlet Crusade is far from over! The legendary leaders of the fanatical order may be dead, but their legacy lives on in Tirisfal Glades and beyond the borders of Lordaeron. On the test server for WoW Patch 10.0.7, the Dataminer by WoWHead Discovered three cosmetic items with the Scarlet Crusade crest in the Trading Post. The transmog set consists of a chest armor, a shield and a cloak: Scarlet Zealot’s Heater Shield, Scarlet Zealot’s Cloak, Scarlet Zealot’s Cassock.

The Trading Post offers you the perfect opportunity to complement the ensemble of the Scarlet Crusade. You can purchase this dashing piece from the Scarlet Quartermaster at the Darkmoon Faire. There is one to match the look Doublet of the Scarlet Crusade and Whitemane’s embroidered capwhich you can loot with a bit of luck in the Scarlet Monastery.

Scarlet Crusade and the False Heir of Lordaeron

The regalia of the Scarlet Crusade is currently giving the WoW community hope that the fanatical fighters of the light will reappear after what feels like an eternity to advance the story in Azeroth. Finally, a few years ago in Tirisfal Glades we discovered several books containing intriguing information, most likely from the Scarlet Crusade library.

These writings are not only full of absurd conspiracy theories, but also spread all sorts of strange rumours. With the return of Calia Menethil as the new leader of the undead and the rise of Turalyon in Stormwind at the end of Shadowlands, the books are once again the focus of our attention.

Said readings can be found in Tirisfal Glades (44/55) near Calston Estate. The books have already been implemented into the game in Battle for Azeroth, but so far hardly any player has discovered them. No wonder, after all, hardly a hero strays to Tirisfal these days. In addition, the tomes are well hidden in the grass behind the trees on the side of the road. You have to search well there! On top of that, keep in mind that you have to talk to Zidormi when you have completed the BfA starting scenario.

So the writings are about Anduin Wrynn being a traitor to his kingdom. The tone in which the writings were written is beyond lurid, one might think it was written by a bona fide conspiracy theorist. However, the mysterious author belonging to the Scarlet Crusade shares some interesting information with the reader.

For one, he writes about an unholy alliance between Anduin and Sylvanas as if they were both having an affair. In addition, the books mention a secret heir of Lordaeron. However, from a son. However, we do know that Calia had a secret daughter. Clearly! The Scarlet Fanatics spread rumors of a male heir, hoping to one day introduce a puppet of their own as heir to the throne.

Turalyon and the Army of the Light

Why is a son’s lie so important? It was a long tradition in Lordaeron for a prince to ascend the throne. Princesses were at a disadvantage in the kingdom. So the Scarlet Crusade spreads the tale of a son who would one day inherit the throne of Menethil. The Scarlet Knight does not mention the boy’s name in the writings. A smart move, the Order can introduce almost any young man from their own ranks as the new Prince of Lordaeron.

An exciting fan theory is currently circulating on the internet. Imagine the Scarlet Crusade making contact with Turalyon, who rules Stormwind City after the disappearance of Anduin Wrynn, through the false prince. The timing would be perfect! Indeed, the Crusade has the best chance of forging an alliance with Stormwind right now. It is an open secret that Turalyon did not approve of Anduin Wrynn’s diplomatic style of leadership. After his return to Azeroth, the High Exarch even spoke openly of wanting to reclaim the lost lands of the human kingdoms, including Lordaeron. Cost what it may.

To explain the current situation of the alliance in Azeroth: The nobles of Stormwind founded a new powerful manor house in the king’s absence. The council elected High Exarch Turalyon as the new general of Stormwind. A smart move. Turalyon is a true warrior with no interest in politics. Loyal to the Light, his unwavering faith can restore the Alliance to its former glory – provided Turalyon finds powerful allies.

And this is where the Scarlet Crusade comes in. The Order shares the same goals as Turalyon. Although the Crusade in Cataclysm lost most of its strongholds in the Eastern Kingdoms, the Knights refuse to give up Tirisfal and the fallen human kingdoms. Their number has shrunk considerably in recent years. It is nearly impossible for the Crusade to take Lordaeron single-handedly. Without a strong ally, the Scarlet Crusade’s days are numbered. The Crusade and Turalyon need each other. With the false prince spreading the lore of the Scarlet Crusade, the Order may even rise to become a powerful political power in the Alliance Council.

The intrigue of the dreadlords continues! Lothraxion could convince Turalyon that Belnazzar's work was good, driving the High Exarch into the arms of the Scarlet Crusade.

Crazy idea? No. Belief in the Light is the great common denominator that binds Turalyon and the Scarlet Crusade together. Most Scarlet Knights are unaware of Balnazzar’s ruse, relying only on their religion, which in recent years has culminated in blind fanaticism. The Army of the Light is well on its way down the same dark path as their Scarlet counterparts in Azeroth. For them, the light is paramount. All other cosmic powers must submit.

We must also remember that Turalyon is not a settled man. His strength is just a facade. The High Exarch made many sacrifices in the war against the Burning Legion. In Legion, Demon Hunter Illidan wiped out Turalyon’s savior, Xe’ra, then his great love, Alleria, engaged with the powers of the Void. On top of that, the reunion with his son Arator was not as forgiving as he had first hoped. War and tragedy have taken their toll on Turalyon. It would not surprise us if one day the mood in Stormwind changed and Turalyon and the Army of the Light launched a new crusade.

The Church of Light and the Future of the Undead

Should Turalyon and the Scarlet Crusade join forces, Calia Menethil and the undead will be in grave danger. The undead would stand no chance in the field against the combined might of the Army of the Light and the Scarlet Crusade. But it need not come to that should the Crusade impose its will on Tirisfal Glades through the wrong prince. However, Blizzard likes to tell these stories at the end of an expansion.
