Usually, bugs in video games are actually a negative thing. Every now and then there are small errors that rather enrich your game and are almost something like a feature. So does this Hogwarts Legacy bug that shows what it could be like to play as a Hippogriff.

You can’t be an animagus, but that’s the next best thing

Many fans had already wished before the release of Hogwarts Legacy to be able to play as an Animagus. Unfortunately, an unfulfilled wish, you can only travel through the magic world in human form.

Apparently, however, there is a curious bug in the game that at least makes you look like a hippogriff. A fan shared a clip on Reddit showing exactly that. However, the character itself does not become a spring-loaded animal.

Rather, it appears that your character becomes invisible while riding the Hippogriff, making it appear as if the video’s poster is controlling Cloudwing itself.

Unfortunately not a real feature: Under the post, many fans wish the bug was an actual game element and are jokingly calling for it to be an Animagus DLC for the game. Unfortunately, there is currently no known reliable way to replicate the bug, nor is it particularly practical.

Namely, as the user who uploaded the video notes, his character remains invisible when he dismounts and cannot move. The only solution here seems to be to restart the game – or never dismount the Hippogriff, as we would recommend.

Hogwarts Legacy will be available on February 10th, 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions have been postponed again and will now be released on May 5th, 2023. The release date for the Nintendo Switch version is still July 25th, 2023.
