Hogwarts Legacy Patch removes the most powerful spell combo in the game – and you can still cast it

After The Last of Us series: Hogwarts Legacy is also supposed to get a film adaptation

Actually, this spell combo should be fixed, but you can still cast it.

The last update for Hogwarts Legacy was actually packed with fixes designed to make our lives easier – not least because it finally made one of the most annoying NPCs in the entire game more bearable. But also included is a change that should actually nerf the most powerful spell combo in the game. But it probably didn’t work out that well, with a trick it still works.

JK Rowling’s transphobia: The success of Hogwarts Legacy indirectly benefits Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who participates through existing publishing rights and the associated sale of the books. Rowling continues to be active in anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric and actively supports anti-trans policies in the UK. If you want to find out more about the topic, you will find a summary of the most important controversies surrounding Hogwarts Legacy here.

Spell combo lets you blow up rows of enemies

In order to really do damage in the game, you need a certain talent along with a spell: namely the Blood Curse and Transformation.

The Blood Curse talent causes all cursed enemies to take damage when you attack one of them. An upgraded transformation spell, on the other hand, transforms enemies into explosive barrels.

You can probably already guess why this is extremely useful: prior to the patch, if you chained enemies with the bloodcurse and turned one of them into a barrel and threw it around, all enemies would take absurdly high blast damage.

And since the spell’s cooldown is fairly low, you could repeat it almost any number of times. That was changed with the last patch. To all appearances, it was simply not intended by the developers.

You can read about what else the patch fixes here:

However, you can still use the combo if you do it right: Now, instead of throwing the explosive barrel through the enemy, you simply cast spells on it until it explodes. And whoops, all chained enemies take as much damage as if they were an explosive barrel themselves.

Here you can see it in the video:

Hogwarts Legacy will be available on February 10th, 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions have been postponed again and will now be released on May 5th, 2023. The release date for the Nintendo Switch version is still July 25th, 2023.
