Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Scientist crafts ingenious online tool for fastest driver setup
The question of the best driver setup in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe even concerns scientists.
It’s really amazing: The question of the best driver-kart combination in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe not only concerns many who do their laps on the courses of the fun racer, but even science. In 2018, for example, researcher Henry Hinnefeld presented a paper that identified Wario as the best driver. And now there’s a new video also dedicated to the scientific investigation of the driver meta.
In any case, the data scientist “Bayesic” speaks in his video on the YouTube platform about the adjusted driver statistics in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe after DLC wave 4 of the booster route pass. The video is in English and can here to be looked at.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Build Optimizer – nice gimmick
At least as exciting – if not even more exciting – is the online tool “Build Optimizer” that Bayesic developed to get an overview of driver setups or to compare and fine-tune them.
The tool is in English and lets you use drop-down menus to set, among other things, the two stats you want to optimize – i.e. some acceleration or top speed.
You can then select your favorite build and then get an overview of which setups are particularly suitable for the selected stats and which builds can dominate your own on the track.
Of course, it is difficult to check the values and diagrams/comparisons and it is also difficult for us to make a statement about the scientific correctness. However, the tool is a nice gimmick on the way to your own personal favorite setup and an amazing indicator of how deeply people deal with the game.
Birdo only came into play with the recently released DLC wave 4, but is already built into the tool. However, it is already clear that Bayesic still has to adapt the Build Optimizer. Because the driver meta in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not yet complete, after all, 5 more drivers will appear up to and including DLC wave 6 of the booster track pass.
It has not yet been decided which ones they are, but you can already give your opinion in our survey as to which drivers you would like to see in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released for the Switch in April 2017 and is one of the most successful and best-selling games for the Nintendo console. This is probably one of the reasons why Nintendo decided to add some content for the fun racer with the booster track pass.
After DLC wave 6, there will be 96 tracks and 48 drivers, making Mario Kart 8 Deluxe by far the most extensive part of the series.
What do you think of the Build Optimizer? And what is your favorite setup?
