Sons of the Forest: Interactive maps are springing up like mushrooms

In Sons of the Forest you crash a helicopter on an island. You are supposed to look for three missing people and have to defend yourself against the indigenous population. If you want, you can also use the time for an intensive off-grid adventure, build fortresses and redesign nature by primarily cold steel kissing the trees.

For all this you can find all sorts of useful things on the island, the first interactive maps are now coming onto the Internet. Eurogamer, IGN and game pressure have a desktop version that shows everything from spawn points to items. The The Forest Map App has now arrived at part 2 and runs on smartphones via Google Play and the App Store. Also MMO Wiki and Map genius offer interactive maps that you can use to plan your “holiday trips”. So you can quickly find the shovel you are looking for.

It will be interesting to see how the maps will be updated during Sons of the Forest Early Access. Eurogamer, for example, emphasizes that the plan is to continuously update the map. Meanwhile, Map Genie has numerous maps from other games that are constantly updated – this is the core business here and they even offer personalization options via a log-in.

This is Sons of the Forest

Sons of the Forest is a sequel to The Forest, wants to have the same framework in terms of play, but will be quite different. The developers have already confirmed that you are now playing a specially trained soldier on a mission – that’s a bit different than John Doe’s accidental crash in the first part. You were looking for your son, now it’s a missing billionaire.

“Sent to track down a missing billionaire on a remote island, you find yourself in a cannibal-infested hell. Use your crafting skills and fight to survive – alone or with friends – in this new terrifying open-world survival game horror simulation game.”

Sons of the Forest wants to use the proven ingredients: An open world in which you can reenact “the arrival of the white man” by cutting down the forest alone or together to build a fortress. There’s exploring the island again, which is said to hold many secrets – including useful things for crafting. Thanks to the engine, a simulation of the seasons is now also possible, which not only looks pretty, but also poses new challenges.
