Twinsen’s Little Big Adventure: Remaster of Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 announced
Studio [2.21] bring the remastered versions of Twinsen’s Adventure and Twinsen’s Odyssey to PC and consoles.
Studio [2.21] announce that they are developing remastered versions of two 90’s classics, Relentless: Twinsen’s Adventure and Twinsen’s Odyssey, also known as Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 in Europe.
Relentless: Twinsen’s Adventure Remastered will be playable as a demo starting with Steam Next Fest (June 19th – June 26th, 2023). Both games will be released as full versions for PC and consoles later in 2024 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first game.
Around the world, the new IP will appear under the name Twinsen’s Little Big Adventure.
Twinsen’s Adventure and Twinsen’s Odyssey: Classics of the 1990s
Relentless: Twinsen’s Adventure and Twinsen’s Odyssey are classic games from the 1990s. They were originally developed by Adeline Software International and published by Electronic Arts (in Europe) and Activision. The first game was released in 1994, followed by the second part in 1997. Players follow Twinsen, a commoner living under the rule of the dictator Dr. Funfrock lives and wants to save the inhabitants of his planet.
Building on their original success, both games have been well received by the trade press and players in the US, UK, Germany and Brazil alike. Worldwide sales are estimated at 500,000 copies for the first part and 800,000 copies for the sequel. Both parts of the great series were re-released on Steam in 2012 and sold 200,000 copies there.
A complete remaster
In the remastered versions of the Twinsen’s Odyssey games, players can relive Twinsen’s adventures, travel from island to island and benefit from a number of improvements along the way.
These improvements include:
- Full Graphical and Technical Overhaul: Both games will be graphically and technically overhauled and redone from the ground up in Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5. There will be improved animations, better camera tracking and high-resolution display options to get Twinsen ready for the next generation. The game’s artistic direction has been entrusted to Brazilian artist Paulo Torinno.
- Completely redesigned controls: Analog controls give players better control over Twinsen. New abilities like dodge and the option to switch weapons on the fly open up new possibilities for players. However, game purists will also have the option to use the original controls.
- Remastered Music: Thanks to the great work of composer Philippe Vachey, the game’s original soundtrack became an instant classic. 30 years later, it’s high time to bring new magic to both games with a revised version of the soundtrack.
Twinsen’s Little Big Adventure 3: An update
The release of the remastered versions of the original games in the series has delayed the release of the previously announced reboot, which was initially planned for 2024. The new schedule will be announced at a later date.
