Valheim update: No current plans for Playstation or Switch
Iron Gates senior developer of Valheim, Jonathan Smårs, revealed in a podcast that there are currently no plans to release Valheim for Playstation or Nintendo Switch. The Viking survival game is now also available for Xbox consoles and in the Game Pass.
The popular open-world survival title Valheim, which was released into Early Access in early 2021, is currently a topic again. Because a new patch was rolled out for the Viking game; Valheim was also released on March 14 for the Xbox One and Series X/S consoles and is also available in Game Pass. The core gameplay is the same on both PC and consoles, and cross-platform multiplayer is offered via crossplay.

Of course, the release for Microsoft’s consoles inevitably raises the question of whether Sony and Nintendo will also get a piece of the cake. However, this does not seem to be the case at the moment, as Iron Gate senior developer Jonathan Smårs clarified in a podcast on the “Xbox Expansion Pass” YouTube channel. There he said: “Currently we are only looking at the Xbox.” Versions for the Playstation 5 or the Nintendo Switch, for example, do not seem to be planned and therefore not in development. However, this could change in the future.

A day before the Xbox launch, Iron Gate rolled out a major patch for Valheim that had been tested a few days earlier in the public test branch. As noted in the announcement, the main content of the update consists of a number of bug fixes, some quality-of-life improvements, rounded off with optimizations for the general performance of Valheim
