WoW Patch 10.1: New details on the Neltharion model
Aberrus, the Shadow Crucible is the new raid coming to World of Warcraft in patch 10.1. Aberrus is the secret laboratory of Neltharion, where the fallen Earth Warden conducted dubious experiments eons ago. The research site is a dark and spooky place, full of traps and dangers. There we will meet monsters, follow in the footsteps of the proto-dragon incarnations and face the shatterscale dracthyr who want to claim the legacy of Neltharion for themselves.
Most of the bad guys that lurk in Aberrus for unwary adventurers are unknown to us. However, there are opponents that are particularly exciting. This includes the echo of Neltharion, which blocks our way into the interior of the laboratory as a boss opponent. WoW veterans still regret that they rarely saw Neltharion aka Deathwing in his human form in Cataclysm. In WoW: Dragonflight we finally get the chance to face off against Neltharion.
The true face of Neltharion
The Earth Warden does not appear in flesh and blood in Aberrus, but as a spirit (as an arcane simulacrum, like the magical image of Sindragosa in the Azure Mountains). We told you a few days ago Model of Neltharion as Dragon Aspect presented the dataminer of WoW (buy now ) Head on the WoW Patch 10.1 test server.

Neltharion makes a mighty impression in his plate armor. But what does the Earth Warden look like without his helmet? Our WoWHead colleagues took a closer look at the Neltharion model and removed the imposing helmet and shoulder armor in the model editor. You can take a closer look at Neltharion’s facial features on the screenshots. Glowing dragon eyes and the characteristic scar that was also seen on his humanoid model in Cataclysm are the highlights that are particularly exciting.

The scar that goes through his right eyebrow is particularly interesting. The same scar can be seen on the Deathwing model from Cataclysm. However, in the Dragonflight: Legacies video series, Neltharion has no scars on his face.
When meeting the Aspects in Dragonflight: Legacies, we briefly see Neltharion without a scar.

This means that he got the scar sometime later, during the period when he was researching something unknown as an Earth Warden. In the fight against Raszageth on the Forbidden Island he already has the scar (see title picture). According to Blizzard, we’ll learn more about how and why Neltharion fell to madness in Aberrus. We’re definitely excited to see what story the developers will tell us in Aberrus!
