Xbox gets Steam high flyers – but PS5 gets left out

In Valheim you get to deal with these trolls, among other things.

Valheim is one of the biggest games success stories of recent years: A small team works on a heart project and they achieve the breakthrough. On Steam, the Early Access version was able to inspire countless players*, now it’s finally starting on the Xbox too. But PS4 and PS5 users have been left in the dark so far.

Should Valheim also be released for PS4 or PS5 at some point?

What the developers say: Of course, the question of a PlayStation version of Valheim drives many potential fans. Accordingly, they also get the people from the development studio behind the mega hit. Your answer is as follows.

“Right now we’re just looking at Xbox, but you never know.”

So not for now. Apparently there are no current plans for a PS4 or PS5 version. Of course, that might not appeal to the many people who don’t have an Xbox or a PC, but want to play Valheim.

This is what Valheim looks like, by the way:

But there is hope: However, the second part of the answer sounds a lot like Jonathan Smårs from Iron Gate Studios would at least not want to rule out that PlayStation owners* will be able to enjoy Valheim at some point in the future.

Is Valheim maybe a time exclusive? In the comment columns and social media answers, there is of course a lot of speculation. Maybe Microsoft could have made a deal with Iron Gate that makes Valheim console exclusive for a short time and brings it into the Game Pass. But of course that doesn’t have to be the case.

Or simply one after the other: It is also conceivable that the development of so many versions and ports at the same time simply cannot be handled by such a small studio. Accordingly, the Xbox version may come first and then versions for PS5 or even the Nintendo Switch.

Still in Early Access: Of course, it’s also important to remember that Valheim isn’t even finished yet, not even on the PC. The survival hit is still an Early Access title. What could also serve as an explanation: On the Xbox there is at least the preview option, on PS4 and PS5 there are no Early Access options.

Have you tried Valheim on Xbox yet? Or do you long for the PS4/PS5 version?
