Boss of a company you all know squanders almost €50,000 in Clash of Clans – “Much shame”

In an interview, the CEO of the Match Group company admitted that he put a lot of money into the mobile game Clash of Clans. The company owns well-known dating brands, including Tinder.

Bernard Kim is the CEO of Match Group. The technology company specializes in dating services and social media, employs over 2,000 people and is best known for its dating app “Tinder”.

In an interview with New Street Research, the CEO was asked whether the business can be compared to mobile games and dating apps. Kim then presented an intriguing analogy but also admitted that he spent $50,000 in 3 months of Clash of Clans.

“I still look back on it with a lot of shame”

What did the CEO say? The comparison was aimed at what long-term successes one could achieve in one’s life in mobile games and with apps such as Tinder. Bernard Kim says:

Nobody plays these games forever. At a certain point, people leave a gaming experience. And what do you have left? I personally spent $50,000 on Clash of Clans in three months and I still look back on it with a lot of shame. I’m like, “Oh my god, what did I really take away from this experience?” Nothing except a really amazing wall, which isn’t cool today.

Kim then speaks directly to the interviewer, who apparently met his wife through the Tinder dating app. Kim thinks there are many more real benefits to be gained from a dating app and even find joy in life.

In Clash of Clans he would now only have a thick wall that nobody cares about – not even himself anymore. Kim is ashamed to have put the $ 50,000 into the mobile game.

Anyway, Clash of Clans isn’t the best game if you want to fight your way to the top with a lot of money.
