Stray Souls: Psychological Thriller comes to consoles and PC
In the psychological thriller Stray Souls, players inherit an old house where dark secrets lurk.
Independent studio Jukai Studio and video game publisher Versus Evil today announced that the mysterious psychological horror game Stray Souls is coming to consoles and PC later this year.
Enter the mind of Daniel, a teenager who inherits a house from his estranged grandmother. When he moves in, he meets the enigmatic Martha, who knows more about the house than he expected. As night falls, dark secrets lurk in the house and in Daniel’s past—secrets that Daniel can’t seem to escape.
Stray Souls combines popular elements of Japanese survival horror games with a bunch of new tricks. These include a variety of randomization systems where enemy encounters, item placement, paranormal activity, and even the weather are constantly changing so no runthrough is ever the same.
Powered by powerful Metahuman technology and powered by Unreal Engine 5, characters and environments are authentically brought to life, drawing players directly into the horror and dismay of the story.
Versus Evil General Manager Steve Escalante said: “We think it’s good to indulge in a little evil sometimes and it’s been a pleasure working with Jukai Studio to bring their modern Japanese thriller to life. Stray Souls pays homage to classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, while bringing its own twist to the genre with new technological innovations. This is a game made by people who know horror, by an experienced team of developers who have worked on other titles like Blair Witch, The Medium, Visage and Road to Hollow Hills – it was made by horror fans for horror fans. “
Stray Souls will be released later this year for PC, PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox Series S|X.
