Chernobylite is a sci-fi survival horror RPG that takes you into a 3D scanned recreation of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, including the abandoned city of Pripyat. Free exploration of a haunting world is complemented by survival RPG mechanics and non-linear storytelling.

He returns to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone as Igor, investigating the mysterious disappearance of his beloved Tatyana 30 years ago, at the time of the catastrophe. Your skills as a physicist and former employee of the Chernobyl Power Plant will help you survive the threats of the Exclusion Zone, but can you overcome the supernatural horrors and insanity that lurk in your own mind?

Plan your survival

Surviving the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone is not something you can do on your own. You will meet other stalkers, each with their own motivations; You will have to decide whether to team up with them or face them. They can help you or betray you. Whatever you do, plan your moves ahead of time.

There are three basic daily phases in the game where you can set up your next moves and work on your mission, each challenging and offering different possibilities: morning, noon, and night. Every day you can get closer to finding Tatyana if you play well.

In the morning, you will make plans for the day and deal with obstacles caused by the long night, such as a partner’s injury that is getting worse. At noon, you will be exploring a selected location, gathering the information and materials necessary to develop your base. Finally, you will share the resources and information you previously obtained with your colleagues in the evening. You can also use that time to improve your base, facilitating your later missions.

You can only visit one place per day, so carefully assign tasks between yourself and your colleagues. Make sure you strike a balance between gathering supplies, searching for clues about Tatyana, and working on the final heist.

Control your body and mind

Survival in the exclusion zone affects not only your health, but also your psyche – radiation and stressful situations can affect both of you. You can use various substances to cure or reduce the influence of radiation. If his health drops to zero, he will have to face an additional challenge before returning to action.

When the influence of radiation is too high, you will start to lose health and will not be able to heal until the influence of radiation is reduced. If the radiation reaches a maximum level, it will kill you. You will then have the opportunity to replay a selected mission.

The lower psyche can induce hallucinations and set off a chain reaction of peculiar events that will inevitably drive you crazy. While it will not cause your death, the game will be much more difficult until you calm your mind with medications.

Survive in any circumstance

You won’t have access to their base when exploring the Exclusion Zone, so prepare the items you’ll need ahead of time and learn how to field craft from raw materials. Sometimes you will find abandoned crafting stations, sometimes you will have to build one from scratch.

While your options are limited outdoors, there is a wide range of options at your base. You will need everyday furniture such as beds and lamps, as well as a power source to ensure that the air quality and radiation level are safe.

A variety of crafting tools allow you to create or upgrade weapons and armor, as well as grow useful herbs. You decide which aspect is the most important for your strategy; first, make sure you have enough resources.
