The Halloween season is near and naturally we are looking for the kind of media to help us enter this time of scary stories and carved pumpkins. And what better game to do it than one that calls itself Creepy tale? I can’t think of a better contender. The game begins with your brother being taken over by evil powers from another world. Just like that, your life turns to horror and you are left alone in a creepy and sinister forest, forced to fend for yourself. It’s certainly an attractive premise that leaves you wanting more, and let me tell you, the more you get. You run, you hide, you solve puzzles. You even play the reed reed! All of this wrapped in a beautiful package of beautifully gloomy 2D art and spooky, foreboding music. The developers have really nailed the look and sound of everything in this game and it’s a pleasure to play and let it scare you.

It’s an understatement to call Creepy tale atmospheric. It oozes style and a spooky mood, in the style of the Brothers Grimm. If you decide to pick it up, I definitely recommend playing it alone and in complete darkness to get the full experience (wrapping yourself in a blanket is allowed, if not encouraged). There is something magical that happens when you let the game show you its full horror potential. The immersion immerses you in this imperfect and disturbing world and does not let you crawl out. Many times when I was playing at night and had to run to the kitchen for some food, I found myself staring at the windows suspiciously and scaring the clothes hanging over the chairs. This is certainly a treasure for any lover of horror and the macabre. If they are brave enough to face it.
