The Evolution of Your Favorite Monkey Gang: Celebrating 20 Years of Super Monkey Ball

Yo-ho, banana maniacs and welcome to the wonderful worlds of Super Monkey Ball! AiAi and all your favorite monkeys are launching for a new adventure in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania – Now available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | Yes!

Banana mania collects the best of 20 years of Super Monkey Ball by remastering the three original games (Super monkey ball, Super Monkey Ball 2, and Super monkey ball Deluxe) in a definitive edition. It also features a ton of new content, from new playable characters like Beat from Radio Jet Set and Kiryu from Yakuza, new modes like Golden Banana and Dark Banana, and new support features like Helper Mode (for when you’re absolutely dying to delete EXAM-C!).

Most significantly, the Super Monkey Ball universe has been colorfully revitalized, with new textures, environments, vibrant decorations, and much more. The original gang of monkeys has come a long way since they first debuted in arcades (with banana joystick and all!) 20 years ago …

The new look of AiAi marks a constant evolution since its first appearance in arcades (2001 Monkey ball) and Xbox (2005’s Super Monkey Ball Deluxe). The lovable monkey gang leader has always sported his signature ‘A’ orange tee, though his sleek hairstyle has gone through a makeover or two. its Banana mania The model is even more colorful and expressive, packed with lively animations as it sets off on an adventure:

MeeMee, the gang’s charming matriarch, has also seen her appearance evolve over the years. This kind soul first adorned her favorite polka dot dress a decade ago (2011’s Super Monkey Ball 3D) but has never lost his love for picking fresh flowers:

The most radical evolution has to be everyone’s favorite genius, Baby! Teachers of the Monkey Ball lore may remember this adorable young monkey’s origins as a time traveler from the future when he returned to help his parents thwart Dr. Bad-Boon’s nefarious plans in 2002. Super Monkey Ball 2! The high-tech visor you first picked up in 2010 Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll it’s a nod to his sci-fi “past” (though he never parted with his trusty pacifier, also known as a tantrum reliever).

And GonGon, the muscular monkey with a heart of gold, must not be forgotten. This mighty gorilla has also gone through a few iterations throughout all his adventures on Jungle Island:

We are also absolutely thrilled to introduce the latest look of the gang in the launch trailer for Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania! Sega teamed up with Powerhouse Animation to bring the gang to life in stunning hand-drawn 2D animation. The animated launch trailer also includes an original Hyper Potions track. See if you can catch all of the Sega Easter Eggs hidden in the gang’s first appearance in animated form!
