As a UK developer, when travel was restricted by the pandemic, the choice of which route in the mainland UK we should tackle next was a no-brainer. We had received many requests for a route in Cornwall, the most south-western region of the United Kingdom, and we could see why: it has beautiful landscapes, incredible beaches and charming villages.
The “Great Western Railway” was originally built in the 1830s, known as the Holiday Line, and transported Victorian vacationers back and forth to some of the most popular resorts of the time. The railway has obviously been improved over time since then, and it is still a very popular route today.
For the West Cornwall local route, we are bringing a new train to Train Sim World 2, the Class 150/2, which is in the color of the regional railways. It is a multi-unit diesel passenger train designed to run at 121 km / h (75 mph), which is still in service in various parts of the UK.
Also included is a Class 37 diesel locomotive which we have updated to match the version most frequently seen on the route. And the route also includes two wagons; the Turbot and the Seacow, which means that there is a wide variety of play options, regardless of whether you like moving passengers along the slower scenic parts of the route or fast transport along sections from the main line. We’ve also included a controllable train wash and refueling line at Long Rock Depot in Penzance to create even more variety.
In addition to the 5 stages and 67 services, we had fun hiding collectibles such as tourist posters and luggage carts along the route. It’s up to you to find them all! And as if that wasn’t challenging enough, those who earn the Mastery reward might also encounter a Kraken, the legendary sea monster.
With its beautiful beaches, rolling countryside and bustling cities, a wide variety of game options, including the additional branch to St Ives, West Cornwall Home for Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S has something for everyone. You can collect Train Sim World 2 with Xbox Game Pass and this new route to explore is now available.

Opened in 1867, the Cornish Main Line weaves its way through the landscape that links Cornwall to the rest of the country. Brunel originally built the line with his unique 7-foot “wide gauge”, but in 1892 the route became standard gauge. For those areas not served by the main line, branches are extended to serve local communities, such as the St Ives Bay Line.
