Update, 08/11/21:

After speculation about a Quality and Performance mode discovered through an Elden Ring shopping list, FromSoftware has revealed the official specifications and compatibility details for the next role-playing game.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions will be identical: they both have a resolution mode that prioritizes 4K resolution with a 30 FPS lock, and a performance mode that will prioritize 60 FPS gameplay with a dynamic resolution that adjusts as you go. is played to ensure the 60 FPS frame rate remains stable. Both next-gen consoles will support raytracing (by patch) and HDR as well.

The Xbox Series S will support resolutions up to 1440p and a frame rate of 60FPS (via Performance mode). It also supports HDR, but it will not include ray tracing.

On the PlayStation 4 Pro, expect 1800p resolution, 30 FPS frame rate, and HDR. The standard PlayStation 4 doesn’t support HDR, so don’t wait for it there. However, you can expect a resolution of up to 1080p with 30 FPS.

Xbox One X consoles will support resolutions up to 4K, HDR, and a frame rate of 30 FPS. Xbox One consoles will achieve Elden Ring resolutions of up to 900p and a frame rate of 30FPS, but HDR will not be available.

Both old Xbox and PlayStation Elden Ring games can be transferred to new generation consoles. However, PS5 saves cannot be transferred to a PS4, while Xbox Series X / S saves can be transferred to Xbox One consoles.

On PC, the maximum resolution is 4K and the maximum frame rate is 60 FPS.

Original story, 05/11/21:

Elden Ring will have a performance mode and graphics mode on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, per the Collector’s Edition listing on GameStop.

First discovered by PushSquare, if you go to the Elden Ring Collector’s Edition list at PS5 or Xbox Series X, you can find all kinds of details about FromSoftware’s upcoming open world RPG. In the “Enhanced Experience” section, the GameStop listing says that Elden Ring will have two game modes.

“Using the power of [the] new generation of consoles, [Xbox Series X/S and PS5] it will allow gamers to personalize their experience by choosing between graphic mode to enhance game images (up to 4K) or performance mode for higher frame rates (up to 60 FPS), ”the GameStop listing reads.

If this is true, it would line up with what we’ve seen in other cross-generation titles. Many games that are released on both previous generation consoles and new generation consoles feature some type of quality or graphics mode that focuses more on resolution and a performance mode that focuses on higher frame rates on PS5. and Xbox Series X / S. Elden Ring with these two game modes would make sense.

However, FromSoftware has not officially announced such a thing and at this time, GameStop’s listing is the only indication that Elden Ring will have two game modes. Hopefully we’ll learn more about what’s in store for the Elden Ring game on next-gen consoles soon. Elden Ring arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 25.
