Thunderful World – Everything Announced, Including a 3D SteamWorld Game

Thunderful World, the inaugural digital event for the Swedish developer and publisher, aired today, bringing new game announcements, release date reveals, and even a surprise game launch, and all hosted by Mark Hamill, no less.

The show featured a new entry in the cult SteamWorld series, an Xbox exclusive release date, The Gunk, and much more. We’ve compiled all of the news below to help you make sure you don’t miss a thing.

SteamWorld Headhunter is the next installment in the cult SteamWorld series, and the first to go from 2D to 3D. Headhunter will be a “stylish and colorful third-person cooperative action adventure.” While the announcement didn’t reveal the game, a release date, or platforms, a trailer (above) gave us a hint of what to expect.

To celebrate, SteamWorld Dig 2 will also be available to download for free at Steam for 24 hours.

The Gunk – 10 screenshots

The Gunk, a third-person sci-fi adventure with nuances from Luigi’s Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine, is coming to Xbox and PC on December 16. The game will also launch on Xbox Game Pass.

Wavetale revealed and Surprise released for Stadia

Wavetale is a new third-person action adventure set in a flooded world and created by Thunderful Games (Lost in Random, SteamWorld). Unexpectedly, it’s available today on Google Stadia, with a PC and console release in 2022.

New 3D Platformer Togges Revealed

Billed as a ‘stack builder’, Togges sees you using the titular Togges to create blockchains in pretty 3D landscapes, combining block colors to create different effects and solve puzzles. Togges will arrive in 2022 for PC and console.

‘Raunchy’ platformer Hell Pie announced

A 3D platformer that has you playing as a demon chained to a cherub, Hell Pie seeks to combine skill-based play with the atmosphere of Conkers Bad Fur Day. It will arrive on PC and console in 2022.

Swordship Shoot ‘Em Up No Shooting Revealed

Swordship is a shooter game with an F-Zero vibe, but it comes with a twist: you can’t shoot, but your enemies can. Instead, use his agile vehicle to make enemies destroy themselves or each other while escaping at high speed. It will arrive on PC and console in 2022.

Moto Metroidvania Laika: Aged Through Blood Announced

A 2D Metroidvania set entirely on the back of a motorcycle, Laika sees you fighting in a post-apocalyptic desert world, and will arrive on PC and console in 2022.

Super Meat Boy Forever comes to mobile devices

The autorun sequel to platformer classic Super Meat Boy, Forever will arrive on mobile devices in 2022, though no release date has been announced.

Surreal FPS Industria comes to the console

Set in 1989 and taking place in both East Berlin and a parallel dimension, Industria arrived for PC in September. Now it’s also coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X / S in 2022, bringing science fiction and surrealism to the console.

White Shadows release date announced

This black and white cinematic puzzle platformer is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X / S on December 7. IGN revealed the game last year, which has been described by the developer as “a modern fable, a distorted mirror of our own world, fun, screwed up, and a bit meaningful.”

Firegirl release date announced

This 2.5D roguelite platformer comes to PC on December 14, with a console release in 2022. You will play a firefighter rescue officer who responds to procedurally generated emergencies and is tasked with rescuing citizens within strict limits of weather.

Cursed to Golf Gets New Game Overview

This ‘golf-like’ combines 2D platforming with golf, and we got a new overview of the game that spoke to us through the structure of the game, asking you to play “18 dungeon-like holes” in four biomes to return to the land of the living.

New Looks at Upcoming Games and Early Access Games

The 3D Crowns & Pawns point-and-click adventure, Tinkertown multiplayer adventure sandbox, and Source of Madness roguelike action received updates.
