Final Fantasy 14 has been a very popular MMO for years that you can also play on the PlayStation. But only with the last expansion “Endwalker”, which was released in December, there was a huge hype about the game.

This ultimately led to the servers being extremely crowded, which is why Square Enix stopped selling the game in digital stores. While the servers aren’t fully up to new capacity yet, Square plans to resume sales now.

Final Fantasy 14 coming back to stores soon

In the official Final Fantasy 14 blog the producer of the game Naoki Yoshida reported and gave a small update on how the game will continue with the servers.

Then the sale starts again: After the launch of Endwalker, the game saw a huge boost in popularity that caused more and more players to be banned from playing due to mistakes. After even minor fixes didn’t work, sales in digital stores were stopped.

But now Square Enix is sure that the first wave is over and new players can join without major server problems. So the sale is on January 25 at 09:00 German time starts again in all digital stores. You should then be able to find the game again in the PlayStation Store.

What’s next after that? Even if the game is then available again, the actual upgrade work is not yet complete. So far, the European servers consist of two data centers with twelve worlds where players can log in. In Europe, the servers will be expanded in two phases over the coming years:

  • Phase 1: By July 2022, the two data centers will each receive two new worlds.
  • Phase 2: By the summer of 2023, a new data center with eight worlds will be added. Thus, the European region would then have 24 worlds spread over three data centers.

The servers in the other regions will also be massively increased in the coming years. So it can be assumed that there should be few or no more problems in the game.

Now is the time to get in: We dragged our freelance writer Stephan Zielke out of Eorzea for a brief moment so that he can answer the question of whether it’s worth getting started now. You can read in his column why he answers that with a clear “yes”.

Are you already playing FF 14 or is the newly launched sale of the game just right for your first entry?
