WoW: Dragonflight: This is how dragon lady Sindragosa returns in the alpha
Update from July 15, 2022: The start of the alpha of WoW: Dragonflight has now also made it clearer to what extent Sindragosa can appear in the new expansion, although she has been dead in WoW for years – we even let her undead form bite the dust again in WotLK. While exploring the alpha realms, you might come across Sindragosa… sort of:

What role does Sindragosa play in WoW: Dragonflight?
It is an “arcane simulacrum”, i.e. an image of Sindragosa, which can imitate parts of the deceased dragon lady, similar to artificial intelligence. So Sindragosa was not brought back to life (as far as we know!). Instead, in Dragonflight we can meet a copy of an earlier version of Sindragosa. In retrospect, that fits perfectly with Steve Danuser’s sentence “the Sindragosa you will interact with throughout the Dragon Isles is -“, which we described further down in the article. In the image of the Reddit post you can also see Kalecgos from the blue dragonflight – he last kept the Crystalline Essence of Sindragosa. In Dragonflight, he will join us in “Sindragosa’s Library” according to Blizzard’s Deep Dive.
Original from May 9, 2022: WoW: Dragonflight relies on dragon riding, a playable dragon people, the newly visitable continent of the Dragon Islands and more – the theme of dragons is clear. It’s also not surprising that lore fans are looking at the history of WoW and looking for dragon candidates that could play a role again in the new expansion. Wrathion, Alexstrasza and Kalecgos are definitely in, but what about… Sindragosa?

Danuser on Sindragosa: Interview slip or a slip of the tongue?
In fact, that’s a curious question. Because the former wife of Malygos was before the start of WoW (buy now ) dead, slain by Deathwing and the power of the Dragon Soul. And in WotLK, she was defeated once again by us as the undead leader of the Frostswarm. However, a Twitter interview by streamer Taliesin with WoW Narrative Lead Steve Danuser had an interesting moment in this regard:
Taliesin: I think a lot about dragons and our experiences with dragons, and apparently Sindragosa is a pretty prominent character in the upcoming expansion. […]
Steve Danuser: Well, the Sindragosa that you will interact with as you progress through the Dragon Isles is –
Taliesin: I meant – sorry – I meant Alexstrasza. I’m so sorry, I just expressed myself wrong.
Steve Danuser: Oh, okay, okay, that’s fine.
Sindragosa in Dragonflight – further hint
Steve Danuser then just kept talking about Alexstrasza, but it very much seems like he actually wanted to talk about something when asked about Sindragosa. Of course, it’s possible that both Taliesin and Steve Danuser simply had Alexstrazsa in mind. Although that is very suspicious for the narrative lead, who explicitly pronounces the name again as Sindragosa in the answer.
Especially since the story about Kalecgos from the blue dragonflight in Dragonflight is supposed to lead us to a place called Sindragosa’s library, as Blizzard’s Deep Dive explains. Along with Danuser’s description of the “Sindragosa you will interact with”, makes that imply an alternate version. Are we encountering some kind of spirit, vision, or quasi-AI residing in the library?
You can do the interview with Steve Danuser listen again on Twitter Spaces. What do you think? Is it more likely that it was just a misunderstanding? Or would a return from Sindragosa not be so far-fetched after all, since the end of WotLK Kalecgos has kept them Crystalline Essence of Sindragosa. Tell us your theories in the comments!
