The Valiant: New impressions of the team-based RTS in the Middle Ages

The publisher has new impressions of the medieval RTS “The Valiant”. THQ Nordic has released a new trailer for the team-based strategy title.

In May, Kite Games and THQ Nordic announced The Valiant, a medieval team-based real-time strategy game more reminiscent of Comany of Heroes than Age of Empires 4. So the focus is on tactical battles between smaller troop formations, rather than battles between large armies and base building. Now there are new impressions of the game.

The Valiant: Of Crusaders and Artifacts

THQ Nordic presented a new trailer for The Valiant at its recent Digital Showcase. The trailer first puts the story in the foreground. The focus is on the disillusioned crusader Theoderich von Akenburg, who is pursuing his old brother-in-arms Ulrich von Grevel through Europe and the Middle East. Ulrich wants to put together an ancient artifact that would mean great evil for the world. He is joined by other warriors such as the archer and hunter Konrad, knight Gascoigne, the mercenary Grimhild Eidottr or Reinhard, Prince of Kempten and knight of the Teutonic Order.

The trailer shows the regular process in The Valiant. First you put together a group of warriors. You equip five troop formations with units while leveling up passive and active skills via skill trees. The player then has to use these skillfully and tactically cleverly on the game map in order to be able to survive against the opposing troops.

The Valiant doesn’t have a specific release date yet, but the official Steam website lists the release date as “Coming Soon”. So it could be coming out pretty soon as the gameplay looks mature in the new trailer. The Valiant is for the PC next Steam also in Epic Games Store and up GOG.com available. There will also be a release for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
