Even veteran “Datto” would like to nerf the most popular raid exo in Destiny 2 – but doesn’t want to discuss it with you
A Destiny 2 pro player started a heated discussion on social media. The support exo “The Divinity” is to be nerfed. While many fans of the shooter vehemently reject the proposal, even veteran “Datto” doesn’t think the idea is bad.
What discussion is taking place? On September 9th, multiple World First winner and pro gamer “Saltagreppo” took to Twitter to share his take on what is arguably the strongest support exo in Destiny 2.
He asked the community what they would think of nerfing the raid exo as it was way too strong in the endgame. He was concerned that the Exo weapon would simplify many boss fights. Each guardian can thus damage a boss even with poor accuracy. In his opinion, this shouldn’t be the case.
This suggestion has caused many enraged guardians to take to Twitter to vent their displeasure. So while most of the community votes against it, Datto, a veteran of Destiny history, also has an opinion on the Nerf proposal.
Many Guardians want a nerf, but few admit it
Who is Dato? Twitch streamer “Datto” is a longtime member of the Destiny community. Already present in Destiny 1, he was sometimes known for being the keeper who was always a few seconds short of winning a world first race.
Because of this, Datto’s opinion is an important and neutral point of view for many Guardians to take into account. Since the discussion that had started flared up on Twitter, the Twitch streamer also wanted to reveal his point of view.
What does Datto say? Datto splits the discussion into two parts in his video. The first part relates to the view of the Guardians, who are reluctant to do so. The second part relates to his opinion. In essence, he describes Saltagreppo’s proposal as “a problem for the rich”.
Salt, like other pro players, are in the minority. They too have needs and desires, but as Datto says in his video, “the community doesn’t care.”
The majority of Destiny 2 players aren’t sweats or talents who can beat raids in an hour. They’re part-time Wardens, occasionally pulling off a raid a week. Divinity just helps players get through endgame content faster who have a harder time doing consistent and good damage.
Datto can understand that, but he’s still in favor of an adjustment to the weapon – he just never felt like saying it. According to him, many guardians “can’t see the forest for the trees” and don’t understand the problems that this rifle creates, according to the streamer.
But why should he say it and then get involved in pointless discussions that only sap his strength. He is no longer the youngster from 2016 and has therefore decided against making his Nerf proposal public.
Datto isn’t the only one craving the nerf: Datto himself says he knows a lot of Destiny Guardians that would also be in favor of a nerf, but because of the community and their reactions, it’s impossible to come up with those suggestions without getting blown up.
The community just loves things that make fighting easier. All changes that prevent this and bring some difficulty into the game are heaped with displeasure from the fans. Bungie is to blame for this, says Datto, because they prefer to cuddle the guardians than make their way to the loot more difficult.
Whether the divinity is nerfed or not is up to the development team. However, if Bungie decides to do so, the community won’t be happy about the change, that’s for sure.
What do you think of Datto’s opinion? Do you agree it’s just a “rich man’s problem” and Bungie should leave the rifle alone? Let us know in the comments!
