One Piece Odyssey: New trailer takes you to Alabasta

One Piece Odyssey may not set sail until January 13, 2023, but Straw Hat Luffy and his band of pirates are already taking you on a little adventure. In the brand new trailer, the journey goes to the well-known desert kingdom of Alabasta.

Luffy and his crew don’t get there with a time machine, but embark on a journey into their memories thanks to the powers of the new character Lim. So a untold story awaits the Straw Hats on their nostalgic return to the sandy dunes of Alabasta.

One Piece Odyssey: Reunion with Old Friends

Nevertheless, rubber man Luffy and his friends meet a bunch of old acquaintances, above all the princess of Alabasta, Vivi Nefeltari, and her duck Karuh. Just like in the main story, Vivi turns to the Straw Hats to help her save the country – although the trailer didn’t show any sign of Sir Crocodile, who originally set out to grab Alabasta.

The Straw Hats also experience a particularly emotional reunion with their old ship, the Flying Lamb. So far, apart from the new island of Waford, the main location of One Piece Odyssey, only Alabasta has been revealed as another location of the title. With the possibility of traveling through memories, the developers could, of course, smuggle other islands from the main story into the game.

New story and turn-based combat

One Piece Odyssey aims to tell a brand new chapter in the Straw Hats story, penned by One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda himself. However, the combat system is unusual for the anime adventure: Instead of action-packed real-time battles, you fight in turn-based conflicts. In addition, you can expect extensive exploration of the island of Waford, where all members of the Straw Hats will be playable apart from Jimbei.

One Piece Odyssey pierces January 13, 2023 on the PlayStation 4 and 5, the Xbox Series X | S and the PC at sea. In addition to the normal retail version, you can also pre-order a Collector’s Edition, which includes a steel book, a figure of Luffy and Lim, and some digital content. At Amazon, the approximately 160 your expensive version is already sold out, in Bandai Namco store but you will still find what you are looking for.
