Lies of P: New gameplay trailer brings back memories of Bloodborne

When it comes to “Souls-Like”, there is not only the eagerly anticipated Elden Ring, which is due to appear on February 25, 2022, but also some lesser-known, but nevertheless highly interesting representatives of the genre. For example, this year Lies of P was announced, a dark adventure around the Pinocchio story from 1883, the art design of which brings back memories of Bloodborne again and again.

The development studio Round8 Studios is working on the game, Neowiz acts as the publisher. So far there has only been a story trailer for the game, but now a teaser with alpha game scenes has been published that gives a look at the mechanics: There are different weapons and enemy types, a fairly fast combat system, a very dark setting, and more see.

Lies of P leaves an interesting impression in the clip and, with its gloomy scenario, should not only be of interest to fans of the genre. According to publisher Neowiz, players can equip Pinocchio’s mechanical arm with all sorts of useful tools and weapons, including a grappling hook similar to that used in Sekiro.

A small side note: The sign that reads “APAB” and that the main character is walking towards is already causing discussion. In the comments on the trailer, some users assume that this is a reference to the real “ACAB”. So basically “All Puppets Are Bastards” instead of “All Cops Are Bastards”. There is of course no confirmation of this, but it could reveal a bit about the atmosphere of the town of Krat, in which Lies of P is set.

Lies of P is slated for release sometime in 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC. You can find more information about the game – and some extremely disturbing music – on the official site of the game.
