Image decodes Elden Ring’s ghastly UI and is a blessing to me
Elden Ring is a fantastic open-world adventure, but one that takes its secrecy a step too far for me on one point: there’s no explanation for the in-game status icons. In my column a few weeks ago, I explained in more detail why this annoys me so much, and I’m far from the only one with that.
But now everyone confused by the UI (including me) can breathe a sigh of relief: A fan named bluetheslinky has taken the trouble to create two comprehensive and clear graphics that not only explain all UI symbols and their meanings, but also provide useful information about certain locations on the map. A huge thank you for that!

More about Elden Ring:
Image one shows us UI symbols and icons along with an explanation. Image two, on the other hand, gives us useful information about the map legend, including special locations and NPCs such as merchants.
In the Elden Ring community, the graphics are unsurprisingly extremely well received with over 20,000 upvotes, and I just have to smile a little: Thanks to the overview, Reddit users are getting Dallenforth only now that he walked around with reduced life points. Incidentally, this debuff is indicated with a red square icon and a down arrow and is thanks to an NPC interaction that probably most Elden Ring fans fell for. Me too (of course).
What is your opinion on the user interface and specifically on the status symbols of Elden Ring?
