Zelda for PS5: This indie game is almost indistinguishable from the original
It’s always the case that a game draws significant inspiration from other titles. For example, the indie hit Vampire Survivors was inspired by the mobile game Magic Survival, and some games have had such a huge impact on the industry that an entire genre has been named after them. For example, Souls-like titles often resemble the challenging From Software games in their combat system.
New indie title looks like Link’s Awakening
Often gamers don’t mind when a title draws a little inspiration from its competitors, but when the similarities get a little too much, things change. The new indie project Myplaced is currently confronted with this fate. The Metroidvania was featured in the latest episode of IGN’s Rogue Jam, and both users and IGN were quick to notice the similarities to the Link’s Awakening remake:
“Myplaced is very reminiscent of the recent Link’s Awakening remake, but there may be more to it than meets the eye.”
The title ultimately didn’t win IGN’s competition because the jury had some concerns about the similarities to the 2019 Switch remake. The Twitter user LonelyGoomba. He compared the two games and compared both the graphics and the level design. At least on the comparison image he chose, the similarities are really amazing.
Of course, there are also some voices that emphasize the rather impressive performance of the two-strong development team. Stolen or not, there is obviously a lot of work in the new project. And how do you say it so beautifully? “Good artists copy, great artists steal.”
Myplaced will be released for both the Xbox Series X|S and the PlayStation 5. This means that all players who do not own a Nintendo Switch can experience a little Zelda feeling. But what do you think of all this? Are you bothered by the similarities between Myplaced and Link’s Awakening Remake?
