Callisto Protocol overwhelms me: I’ll get two ‘new’ Dead Space games in winter

Even this disgusting beast is amazed: The Callisto Protocol will be released this year.

I had at Sony’s June State of Play expected a lot. However, such an early release date for The Callisto Protocol was not one of them. The horror title is supposed to be released at the beginning of December and when I look at the new gameplay trailer, I have to admit that my horror heart is already beating fast.

Because as some of you know, Dead Space is one of my absolute favorite games, the atmosphere and the setting absolutely overwhelmed me at the time. And the developers of Callisto Protocol have never made a secret of the game that inspired them – this Dead Space. This comes out so clearly in the game scenes that I almost think I have a Dead Space 4 in front of me.

Graphic style, general impression, the monsters: It’s sort of like a dead space, don’t you agree? And even if it is of course different from its great role model in a few points, after many years I seem to finally have one of my dearest wishes fulfilled with Callisto Protocol. Namely a – albeit unofficial – Dead Space 4.

When Tobi thinks of Dead Space, he gets goosebumps almost immediately. Because the horror game from Visceral Games left such a lasting impression in 2008 that it resonates to this day and is always used as a comparison with other titles in the genre. Also because The Callisto Protocol has a similar approach, he is extremely excited about the title.

Two in almost one stroke

The EA series was buried after the much more action-oriented Dead Space 3, and there was never a successor in the style of the fantastic first part. However, just shortly after Callisto Protocol in January 2023, a remake of Dead Space will be released, which I am also really looking forward to:

That’s why I’m currently almost a bit overwhelmed. First there was nothing in this direction for years and suddenly two ‘new’ Dead Space games are released almost at the same time. Of course, this also makes me look forward to the coming “Horror Winter” with a lot of goodwill and anticipation. Especially because I didn’t expect The Callisto Protocol to be released so soon.
