Indie World August 2021 Roundup: Nintendo’s Biggest Switch Announcements

Nintendo streamed a new presentation of Indie World, the company’s series of exhibits focused on indie games and similar to Nintendo Direct, revealing all-new Switch games and offering updates on things we knew about. It was a lot – there are seven new Switch indies launching today on the eShop, with many more arriving later this year and through 2022.

Here’s everything Nintendo and its independent partners announced today on Indie World.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk Comes to Switch

Developed by Team Reptile (Lethal League), Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a graffiti skating adventure in the style of Sega’s beloved and stylish Jet Set Radio games. It will arrive on Switch (and other platforms) in 2022.

Loop Hero comes to Switch

Coming to Nintendo’s handheld-console hybrid this holiday season, Loop hero is a card-based RPG where you build the world for a hero’s adventure. Place enemies, buildings and terrain, earn loot and fight the lich that runs through time and terrifies you.

The new Shovel Knight game comes to Switch

Shovel Knight, the star and guest star of dozens of games, will explore a new genre in Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon, a puzzle-dungeon-tracker from Yacht Club Games and Vine. Pocket dungeon It was previously announced, but a Switch version (and amiibo support) is now confirmed.

Axiom Verge 2, the long-awaited sequel-prequel to Thomas Happ’s Metroidvania Axiom Verge (2015), is available today. After multiple delays, Axiom Verge 2 is coming to the Nintendo Switch eShop, as well as the PlayStation Store and Epic Games Store.

They are also recently available on Nintendo Switch starting August 11. Boyfriend Dungeon, Necrobarista: End for, Garden history, Islanders: Console Edition, Slime Rancher: Plortable Edition, Y Curious Expedition 2.

New Switch release dates

Plenty of other Nintendo Switch ports got release dates, including Astroneer (January 2022), One Hundred Days – Winemaking Simulator (“this winter”), Gang beasts (“this winter”), LumbearJack (2022) and FAR: Turning tides (early 2022).
