Typically, a simple season name and the reveal of its main characters only serve to get players excited. But the name of Season of the Lost and Mara’s participation carry some weight: both details appear in a major leak months ago. With the confirmation from Bungie, one of the biggest rumors in the history of the series became much more credible.

The leaked image of Season of the Lost shows some runes and symbols of Destiny 2The location of Dreaming City, with Hive’s eyes staring into the background, and Mara Sov. Mara is the Queen of the Awakened, and “died” in the original. Destiny. Players visited her Throne World and spoke to her in 2018. Abandoned expansion, but it hasn’t reappeared in years.

With Mara out and about, hanging out with Osiris in the official Bungie screenshot above, it looks like the studio may finally finish the Dreaming City story. But players who have kept up with the Destiny rumors were expecting all of this.

Players on the Raid Secrets subreddit have spent months curate a list of upcoming and unconfirmed information with respect to Destiny 2, full of various “leaks”, rumors, and conspiracy theories for unreleased content. Everything seems to have its origin in the community, and there doesn’t seem to be a bogeyman “AnonTheNine” behind all this information as there was a few years ago. And yet several of these predictions have begun to gain credibility, specifically the details of a “Notepad publishing” which supposedly appeared last year.

The collection of leaks suggested that the famous Guardian Osiris was actually Savathun, the titular Witch Queen, in disguise months ago. And due to some recent events in the game, that seems more and more likely. He also stated that Season 15 would be Season of the Lost, would feature Mara Sov, and would take place in Dreaming City to close out the Abandoned history. Bungie confirmed it on Friday.

So there are a lot of reveals on Bungie’s latest weekly blog that line up with several other leaks. Raid Secrets Reddit user losk64 created a list of confirmed and unconfirmed details using Bungie’s own revelations to help validate the collection of leaks, such as the original Trials of the Nine weapons coming to last year’s dungeon of Prophecy or the rocket launcher of the recently revealed season 15, which comes with a rare perk mentioned by name on the leak. Even Bungie’s recently announced anti-cheat plays into the leak, although the suggested timing is a bit off.

In leak collections like this, the information comes from a variety of “sources.” Some items here could, and certainly appear to be, legitimate leaks from some unknown internal source. But the new Season of the Lost reveal doesn’t automatically confirm the entire collection.

However, as a player who has been watching this leak for months, it is curious that so many pieces keep falling into place. Some of the more outlandish notions discussed within, like a Bungie 30th anniversary crossover event between Destiny and Halo taking place later this year, don’t seem as silly as they did in May.

The collection of leaks has been slowly gaining traction over the past weeks and months, but players acknowledged that it could be well-guessed. Destiny 2 fanfiction. With the confirmation from Bungie on Friday, the leak just gained a lot of credibility and all the attention that comes with it.
