What are you going to play this weekend? (August 28) – Talking Point
[ad_1]
It’s been another hectic week for Nintendo Life. Let’s see, there was a free Monster Hunter Rise x Street Fighter update, all kinds of Gamescom Opening Night Live reveals and follow-up streams, allegations of foul play in the retro collecting world, a surprising crossover of Puma and Animal Crossing, and the launch of Pokémon TV on Switch. That’s just a scratch off the surface, seriously, it was a busy old week.
After all that, it’s time to relax and discuss our weekend game plans. Some mThe Embers of the Nintendo Life team have done exactly that below, so feel free to read our posts and then join yours via our comment section. Enjoy!

It really should go back to Metroid: Samus Returns, I guess. It’s good, but I’m playing it in short bursts and I really need to find a few hours to put in it. Metroid Dread’s Closing in fast and time is running out. Beyond that I’ll probably continue Islanders, which I started playing with earlier in the week, and I may also download the recently released Townscaper. I have followed the development of that game for some time and fell in love with the art style. Fingers crossed that it plays as good as it looks.

I recently picked up This War of Mine: Complete Edition And while the theme is pretty bleak, I’m intrigued to try it out for the first time. I also have a review of Monster hunter rise to try and catch up on the great free updates, and it’s also a weekend tradition to continue my game of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD; In fact, I don’t play it on weekdays, weirdly. I also plan to collect Inked: A Tale of Love, a gorgeous looking game that many have probably overlooked due to the various high-profile releases of the week.
Outside of Switch, I’m really enjoying Psychonauts 2, and there’s a new season on MLB The Show 21 to attract me; that game is my greatest addiction and weakness.

Technically, my last WAYP entry wasn’t true – I said I’d be playing Minecraft and I didn’t have the time. Instead, I played Final Fantasy on the NES, and will probably do it again this weekend. I’ve never played a NES game, and the only FF game I’ve ever played is the FF7 remake on PlayStation, so I don’t really have a benchmark for it! It’s a bit frustrating with the old-school save system and replay, but I’m still having fun. The buttons on the NES, the little concave tablets, are extremely nice to use, and my group consists of Crug, Fighter, Belb, Black Belt, Egg the White Mage, and Sqeb the Black Mage. I love them all.

I’ve been taking a look at Nintendo’s DLC efforts on the Switch and really adore their 2018 release. Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna The Golden Country, Mario + Rabbids: DK Adventure and Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion they all felt like separate entrances rather than simple expansions. We are planning a video to highlight some of these efforts and this weekend I am going to spend some time delving into Octo Expansion.
I found the Splatoon 2 single player kernel to be penalty fee but maybe a little too similar to the original. Octo Expansion, on the other hand, is packed with entirely new ideas and introduces a serious story to the world of Splatoon. Hands down, it was my favorite Splatoon campaign and I can’t imagine those thoughts changing with this game.
On the non-Nintendo side (horror) I started Psychonauts 2 the other day and good sir is a delight. I can’t remember the last 3D platformer other than Mario that felt so fluid and polished. It’s incredibly entertaining and I think a lot of Nintendo fans would really like it.

Hi there. This weekend I’ll be pretty busy finishing up some reviews, but I’m also absolutely determined to get stuck on No More Heroes III and Spelunky 2 if I can get a little free time. I’ve been patiently waiting for the latest outing from Travis Touchdown (Stuart’s review has me even more excited) and Spelunky 2, well, it’s just a masterpiece, a must-have roguelite masterclass. Oh, and Super Animal Royale just came out … there are too many good games right now!
Have a nice weekend whatever you are doing or playing!

Hi friends. This weekend I will again immerse myself in Guacamelee! for some heartwarming Metroidvania action. It’s been a minute since I last played it, but it’s easily one of the best games in the genre, in my opinion.
I’ll also take a look at WarioWare: Get It Together! demo, as everyone has been raving about it recently. It’s doubtful that I will buy the full game when it’s available, but I loved the older WarioWare titles so I feel like I have to at least try!
As always, thanks for reading! Be sure to leave us a comment below with your gaming options for the next few days …
