Battlefield 2042 Open Beta Dates Announced

[ad_1]

EA has revealed the dates for its next open beta for Battlefield 2042 and it begins next week.

More specifically, you’ll be able to jump (or maybe glide in a wingsuit) onto the battlefield from October 6-9. Anyone interested can just download the beta and play.

Along with the announcement of these open beta dates, EA also revealed what players can expect during the four-day period.

For starters, there will only be one map in beta and it will be called Orbital. On this map, there is a huge space rocket counting down and the fight on this map takes place around its imminent launch. This map and the chaos that will surely occur on it can be seen throughout the new Battlefield 2042 Open Beta Official Trailer released today so be sure to check it out to see Orbital in-game.

In terms of what you will do in Orbital, you will be playing the game’s Conquest mode. This classic battlefield mode will see teams fight in specific sectors of the map as they try to catch and seize various flags that serve as checkpoints. Instead of fighting for a single checkpoint, you’ll essentially be fighting for several at any given time.

There will be four specialist characters to choose from during the beta: Webster Mackay, Maria Falck, Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky, and Wikus “Casper” Van Daele. Mackay is your standard soldier character, equipped with a grappling hook and the Agile ability that allows you to move more quickly while aiming downward.

Falck is a support character equipped with the Syrette S21 pistol that allows players to fire healing syringes at allies and the Combat Surgeon skill that allows players to return downed allies to combat at full health upon revival.

Guskovsky is the leader-like character in the game and he comes with the SG-36 Sentry pistol that automatically detects and attacks enemy targets detected within a given area. He also has the Sentinel Operator ability that detects enemy targets when the SG-36 Sentry Gun fixes on those enemies, marking them for easy kill.

The last specialist available in the game, Daele, is your standard sniper character. His equipment includes the OV-P Recon Drone that detects nearby moving targets and can disorient them through EMP blasts. You can also designate targets for blocking weapons. His equipment also has the ability of the motion sensor, which alerts the player to approaching enemies, both while on the ground and when piloting the Recon Drone.
