No Man’s Sky – Expedition 4: Emergence Update is now available

Last month, we released the latest Nobody’s heaven update, Frontiers, and we were delighted to see Xbox One and Xbox Series X players | Now the Xbox Game Pass members meet, take command and develop the great alien settlements. The third season, the Cartographers Expedition, followed shortly after, bringing more unique challenges and rewards as players struggled to survive and finally leave a hostile planet in an exclusive high-tech spaceship.

Today, as we approach the Halloween season, we are launching our fourth, suitably monstrous expedition. We have called it Emergency.

Throughout the universe, planets have been ruined by the activity of Titan Worms. These colossal sandworms plow through the desert sands, obscuring the sun as they arch overhead and desecrating the very ground with their cursed dust.

Travelers on this expedition will find themselves stranded on the planet Wasan, a barren world ravaged by dust storms and infested with titanic worms. It’s up to you to locate the Titan Worm impact sites, destroy the miserable Hungry Tendrils, and collect the Vile Spawn that is left behind. The vessels of the many mouths must be purged!

As travelers clear the planets of cursed dust and hunt down titanic sandworms, they unravel the threads of a dark narrative. Complete the expedition route to reveal the history of a dark cult, and finally confront the Atlas with the evidence of this indelible stain on the universe.

This is our first Expedition to feature a narrative, and it’s also a mini-update, bringing with it a number of game-wide improvements:

• Most varied sandworms: Titanic worms throughout the universe have been enhanced with a variety of new biologies and types. These colossal beasts can now be found with a wider selection of more hideous variants.

• Richer particle effects: Particle effects have been improved. Meteorites, muzzle flashes, explosions, burrowing wildlife dust, billowing smoke, and laser hits have been revamped and can be seen throughout the game.

• Rideable SandwormsPlayers can now tame and cultivate a tremendous sandworm companion to feed, pet, ride, and explore the universe. These are terrifying and amazing creatures when fully grown, and amazing to fly.

• Festive helmet: After discovering the secrets of an ancient Vy’keen cult, explorers can also echo its appearance with this unique and grotesque alien with many teeth.

• Ghastly trail: Ghastly Trail customization applies a unique organic effect to the Jetpack’s exhaust nozzles, expelling sticky fluids and tiny worms during flight.

• Titanic Trophy: Once owned by a large, legless cousin of the Titan Sandworm, this spooky skull adds a touch of ghoulish decor to the bases.

• Meat launcher: Add an organic element to fireworks displays with the Flesh Launcher fireworks. These unusual fireworks explode in a splatter of slime, plasma, and worms.

Our little team has loved working at Emergence and has really gotten into the spirit of the season. We hope our Xbox travelers enjoy it as much as we do.
