Stardew Valley Creator Announces Haunted Chocolatier

The next game from Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe will be Haunted Chocolatier, a new simulator that looks a lot like his previous work. It’s so similar, in fact, that it looks like it could even be a sequel.

In a short reveal about Youtube, ConcernedApe showcased the beautiful new world of Haunted Chocolatier. Like Stardew Valley, it will be a top-down, pixel-based simulation, and it seems to have the same flavor as ConcernedApe’s previous work.

Some of the opening characters include Maddie, who asks what it’s like to live in the big city, as well as Jett and Nigel. Presumably you will be able to date quite a few of them.

ConcernedApe, the pseudonym of indie developer Eric Barone, has seen considerable success with Stardew Valley, which has become one of the most popular indie games of the last decade. Earlier this year, Barone launched a massive expansion for Stardew Valley, after which he said he would switch his attention to Haunted Chocolatier.

Haunted Chocolatier First Details Revealed

Barone wrote in a Blog after the ad, “Why chocolate? I’m not sure. It just occurred to me. I think sometimes the best ideas appear in an instant, rather than being cleverly thought out. This is how I like to work, anyway. execution is important. And after 10 years of practice, I feel more confident than ever that I can make an idea come true. “

He added: “Regardless, I think a lot of people like chocolate.”

He also outlined some of the ways it will differ from Stardew Valley. In his previous game, the approach was more “humble”, but in the new game he wants to explore more “fantastic possibilities”. Obviously, these possibilities include “haunted magical ghost chocolate”.

“Chocolate represents that which is delicious. The enchanted castle represents the enchantment of the unknown. Ghosts represent the imprint of the past. All of these things are important,” wrote Barone. “However, do not for a moment think that because this game features ghosts in an haunted castle, it is an evil or negative game. Rather, I intend for this game to be positive, uplifting, and life-affirming. ., if Stardew Valley primarily channeled the sun’s energy, Haunted chocolatier channel the energy of the moon. Both are vital. More important than all that, I just want to make a fun game. “

Barone admitted that he is not exactly sure how to describe the new endeavor. In essence, he says, it will involve collecting ingredients, making chocolate, and running a chocolate shop. In short, it will look a lot like Stardew Valley, only you will be a merchant instead of a farmer. Barone said he hopes the new setting will give him a chance to shed the constraints of tradition and “unleash himself,” which should be good news for fans.

“I’ve mainly been working on the ‘meat and potatoes’ of the game until now. But what really brings a game to life is the spice, the sauce. And I haven’t gotten to the sauce yet,” wrote Barone.

We don’t have a release date for Haunted Chocolatier yet. We will continue to update with new information as we get it.
