Splitgate: portals to the future

Hello Xbox Nation! I am Ian Proulx, the creator of Splitgate and co-founder of 1047 Games. If you’ve heard of our game before, it was most likely around July or August, the start of our Open Beta. It was then that we were overwhelmed by the large number of new players who wanted to play the game. Since then, we’ve handled the server situation well and players have had a much more stable experience. But instead of repeating the past, let’s talk about something I’m sure many of you are wondering with. Splitgate, the future!

Since it hit the console and received substantial studio funding from 1047 Games, many people have asked, “What’s next for Splitgate? “I could tell you a list of features that we want to add or that we are in the process of rapidly growing the company, but first, let me show you what my vision is. Splitgate It has been from the beginning.

Many players have described Splitgate as inspired by games like aura and Portal. This is not an accident! I grew up playing a lot Halo 2 and Halo 3 and was completely captivated by its simple yet sophisticated gameplay. Everything depended on you to be successful and the reward for grinding was that you improved as a player. Nothing came between you and the game. This, combined with the movement mechanics of the portals, constitutes the DNA of Splitgate. In other words, the game incorporates many of the things that make sand shooter games so fun.

Splitgate

Splitgate be on the same platform that brought me aura it is quite surreal. However, the comparison between the two games has made many people wonder if we are trying to replace aura. This couldn’t be further from the truth, in fact, as Halo fans, we’re very excited about what Infinite halo will bring to the sand shooter space! Splitgate It has always been, and always will be, bringing back what we loved from the FPS games of our childhood. Players who have scattered around the Splitgate arena have also discovered or rediscovered the simple fun of playing a streamlined and simple game; something that some may have forgotten.

But being influenced by the “glory days” of video games does not mean that we cannot or should not continue to grow and innovate. We are here for the long term, which means we have a lot of cool features on the way. In fact, right now, we have our first holiday event update: Spookygate! Everything from the menus to the new skins and one of our maps, Stadium, has gotten the Halloween treatment. The event includes Halloween challenges containing some community-submitted weapon skins that you can unlock until November 1 when Spookygate ends.

This update is just a taste of what you can expect from our young game studio in the future. Of course, we will do something this winter for the holiday season, but beyond that, Splitgate You will get a lot of cool features that Xbox gamers have been waiting for a while. One feature we’ve already started with is a map editor. Imagine playing a version of Karman Station with portal walls floating in space with a building that you can shoot from. Or think of the simulation maps that each wall can be ported on. We can’t wait to see what you come up with when this feature finally launches!

Splitgate

Another highly anticipated feature has to be the Xbox Series X version | S Splitgate. We’re not ready to share the exact details of what this release will bring, but if you’re familiar with other intergenerational titles, that should give you a good idea. By the way, if you’re an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member, you can still redeem the XTREME Perks Pack until November 30 as part of your perks!

Also wait Splitgate to introduce some tradition in the future. We get feedback all the time from players wondering about a story, lore, or some kind of single player mode. I can’t tell you yet how or when we’ll reveal the Splitgate universe, but it’s something we’re eager to share with the world. All I’ll say for now is, stay tuned.

Oh yeah and Splitgate it’s free! Download now and check out the Halloween update. The other developers and I play the game often, so keep an eye out for the “Developer” tag and feel free to give us a call.

See you in the arena!
