Animal Crossing Gyroids: How to Find Gyro Fragments and Grow Gyros in New Horizons

[ad_1]

Gyroids from Animal Crossing New Horizons

Gyros are back, baby, and for people who have played Animal Crossing before, we’ve already experienced all of the thrills that gyros have on us. First, confusion: what do they do? So horror: Why are they buried? Then curiosity: Let’s put one in my house, quickly followed by fun (or horror again) when they start making noises.

But for anyone new to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you might have some questions about how to get these little strangers into your life!

It’s a bit more complicated than it used to be, so even if you’re a die-hard AC fan, you might find new information here too …

Where do you find the gyroscopes?

Gyroids from Animal Crossing New Horizons

Gyros are buried in the ground, like fossils, and will appear as little star-shaped holes ready for you to dig. However, they will not appear on your home island. You will have to go on the Kapp’n boat tours, which will take you to completely new islands with completely new things to find, and that includes gyros!

This time, however, you won’t get a full gyroid. You’ll unearth a gyroid shard, but fear not, that’s all you need to get a new singing partner for your home. We’ll get to that in a moment!

You can only take one boat tour a day, so be sure to dig up every spot on the island!

What do gyroscopes do?

Gyros sing, statues dance. Their noise and appearance depend on the type of gyro you have, and they’ve even been revamped for New Horizons – they were pretty creepy and similar-looking in New Leaf, but they’re pretty cute now.

All of their names are a rough description of the noise they make, such as “boioing” and “twang”, with “oid” at the end.

They’ll also sync with whatever music is nearby, so you can have a whole gyroid choir at home or outside, dancing and singing along to KK Slider’s greatest hits.

Here is an example with a “Squeakoid”:

What do I do with the gyroid fragments?

This is easy: just dig a hole in your island, bury the shard, and water it. It will start to smoke if you’ve done it right; try not to think too much about what that means. You will have a fully developed gyroid the next day!

You can put gyros on the floor, on tables, and basically anywhere you can put a lamp, for example. You can even decorate with gyroid shards, if you like their “freshly dug” look.

You can also sell them, but they are not worth much.

Are there Nook Miles rewards for gyros?

Gyroids from Animal Crossing New Horizons

Bet! There is a 300 mile reward for finding the first one (you will also get the titles “Rain-Soaked” and “Gyroid”), and then you will target all three levels of “Gyroid Getter”. The first level is 5 Gyroids, and we haven’t managed to get more than that yet …

We’re so excited to find out which gyros are the cutest / weirdest / loudest, and we hope you can find a lot of yours with this guide! Let us know in the comments if you have found a favorite yet.
