Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker was delayed for two weeks and will now be released on December 7, 2021. To help with the wait, the team also released the expansion launch trailer.

The news was announced by FF14 Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida who wrote a letter to fans explaining the decision and apologizing for the delay.

“There are various reasons for the postponement, but since I am the one overseeing all aspects of the title as project manager, the responsibility rests solely with me,” Yoshida wrote. “Let me convey my sincere apologies to our players, our Warriors of Light around the world who have been so looking forward to the launch of Endwalker. I am so sorry.”

As we mentioned earlier, Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker will now launch on December 7, while the expansion’s early access period will begin on December 3. There will also be two patches scheduled, Patch 6.01 and 6.05, releasing on December 21. 2021 and January 4, 2022, respectively.

Yoshida went on to say that “the biggest factor behind the release date change was my own selfishness as a game director.” It all came, according to him, from trying to balance the roles of producer and director.

“However, as we got closer to the end of development and I played everything from quests to battle content and the like, I couldn’t contain my desire to further improve the quality of Endwalker, specifically because this expansion pack marks the first major culmination of events at FFXIV so far, “said Yoshida. “Even if we look beyond Endwalker, the story of FFXIV will continue for a long time and we hope to deliver many more enjoyable in-game experiences. However, it was precisely because Endwalker concludes the first great saga that I felt our team needed to push ourselves through. the “limits” I imagined.

“As a result, we remain steadfastly determined to adjust to the smallest nuances and ensure that our writing covers even the finest points in the vast and intricate history that has spanned the last 11 years since the original FFXIV to ensure that all can fully enjoy their adventure in Endwalker.

“Unfortunately, the consequence of this was that we ended up in a situation where we reduced the time required for final quality assurance checks due to this time spent on further improvements.”

As launch day approached, Yoshida realized that “there was an increased risk that we would hit the release date without guaranteeing ‘stability’ as a form of quality.” It was this reason, and more, that led to the decision to delay.

This will be the first time that Yoshida has pushed back an announced release date, although “he once changed a spring release to early summer.” He also understands that many people made arrangements to get off work on Endwalker’s first day, and he humbly asks that everyone “forgive [him] for the decision [he’s] done. ”

Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker will not only conclude the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark and close the story that began in A Realm Reborn, but it will also feature two new jobs, a healer and a melee DPS, and will bring players to the Moon. .
