Dr Disrespect claims EA intentionally ignored him at Battlefield 2042: “Don’t be so pathetic”

In the summer of 2020, Twitch banned the streamer Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm permanently. Since then, there has been a public and low-detail dispute between the streamer and the streaming platform. In the meantime, Dr Disrespect is streaming on YouTube and claims: Thanks to the Twitch-Ban, it is deliberately ignored by large publishers such as EA, for example for the release of Battlefield 2042.

Who is Dr Disrespect? Until June 2020, Dr Disrespect was one of the most popular streamers on Twitch. As a former developer for Call of Duty, he mainly plays shooters as a streamer.

But “Dr Disrespect” is not just a name: The ‘Doc’ is a role with a lot of personality that Guy Beahm plays and almost never leaves. The bright red glasses, fat vest, thick mustache, a huge ego and a short fuse are iconic.

In June 2020, this drama suddenly turned into a theater: Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch – apparently permanently. To date, there is no explanation for the ban from either side.

Since then, Dr Disrespect has been streaming on YouTube, where he says he earns about a quarter of what he earned on Twitch. Now the streamer is also claiming that this ban had an impact on his status in the gaming industry as a whole.

“It’s official: I’m on an EA ban list.”

What allegations is the streamer making? In a stream on YouTube, Dr Disrespect not only teased Twitch again in front of his audience. He has also directly targeted major publishers in the industry, namely Activision and EA.

After Dr Disrespect was not invited to the release of Battlefield 2042 for events, the streamer was angry and disappointed. He claims EA has him on an unofficial banned list. This is responsible for ensuring that he was not allowed to be at the events:

“It’s official, Champs: I’m on an EA banned list. I mean, that tells you … Since the greasy spell of the purple snake, we’ve been harmed in so many ways behind the scenes, Champs. Not just the original contract [mit Twitch].”

The ban of the “purple snake,” as the streamer Twitch calls it because of the color of the logo, is therefore “crazy defamation” that has harmed him “in so many ways”. Among other things, it destroyed his relationships with EA, which is why he was not allowed to attend the Battlefield 2042 events.

“EA, don’t be so pathetic.”

What is the background? In the past, Dr Disrespect was a central part of the releases of the biggest shooter games on the market. Since the Twitch-Ban he has to watch from the outside.

“Did you notice that… I mean, there’s a reason Activision isn’t making a Call of Duty Affiliate Code, or why we no longer work or have worked with Call of Duty directly. […] Everything we’ve done with EA, the connections, the relationships we’ve built over the years … ”

The streamer is particularly disappointed with the release of Battlefield 2042 in Early Access. He therefore addressed his clearest words in front of his YouTube audience directly to EA: “EA, don’t be so pathetic and scared to death, holy s ** t. It’s embarrassing.”

The doc speaks of a “shadowban”. This is a ban that the person concerned cannot see himself. Banned are blocked

Neither Twitch, Activision nor EA have responded to these statements so far. It remains to be seen whether his relationship will improve with these variables, especially according to these statements.

Twitch bans one of its biggest stars – seemingly for no reason

What happened? In the summer of 2020, “The Doc” suddenly just disappeared from Twitch. Since then, his fans have been puzzling why he is no longer allowed to stream on the large platform, because there was never an explanation. He himself says: “I can’t talk about it, but […] I know why. I’ve known the reason for months and let me just tell you this: There’s a reason we get the shit out of them ”(via comicbook.com). Dr Disrespect has been planning legal action against Twitch since August 2021.

Even 1.5 years after the Twitch-Ban there is no public explanation why these measures were taken against the ‘Doc’. But there were numerous theories and hints with little detail:

The current ban wasn’t the first Dr Disrespect Twitch ban to make the rounds. A year before that, in June 2019, the streamer was banned: At that time, it was streaming from a public toilet on E3.

The difference: After serving this sentence, Dr Disrespect was allowed to stream again on Twitch. He seems to have given up hope that he will repeat this in the current situation.

Battlefield itself is struggling with a few problems. The release in Early Access did not necessarily run smoothly, server problems have afflicted many players, but the game itself is not yet running completely smoothly either:
