2172 entries for the Ratzeburg Advent run

Jonas Weller or Simon Müller? Or is there another surprise at the 31st Ratzeburg Advent Run? One thing is certain: the winner of the big round around the Ratzeburger See will cross the finish line “Unter den Linden” on Sunday at around 12.45 p.m.

2172 runners have registered for the last major event of the 2021 running calendar, which has been heavily thinned out due to corona, 310 start over 5.4 km around the Kleine Küchensee, 722 complete the 9.8 km lap around the Küchensee and 1140 do the demanding 26 km the Ratzeburg lake in attack.

Three endurance runners at the start

Among them are three long-term (b) runners: Rüdiger Wittfoht and Volker Wendland from Möllner SV, like Sievert Kloehn (TuS Felde), took part in all Advent runs. The fastest winning times still come from 1992, when the Australian Paul Wilson won in 1:23:28 hours. The fastest woman to date is Kerstin Kührmann with a 1:37:26.

Battle between Simon Müller and Jonas Weller

Simon Müller from Tri Sport Lübeck is not yet on the list of winners: In 2018, the now 25-year-old ran an extremely fast time of 1:30:46 hours, but Sven Schenk from Magdeburg (Schwerin running group) won in 1:29: 04. In 2019 Jonas Weller from the Ratzeburg rowing club won in 1:32:45.

Müller and Weller are also the top favorites on Sunday. “It’s nice to be able to run again,” says Müller, who finished second in the Lübeck Marathon over 10 km at the end of October and had recently throttled training. Both are looked after by the same trainer, the Austrian Alexander Gräf.

Two triathletes, one trainer

“Jonas wants to attack in the triathlon. I gave him tips on the material, we also talked about trainers, and that’s how the collaboration came about, ”reports Müller. The 25-year-olds have not yet trained together, however, as Müller is now studying in Bremen during the week and Weller is heavily involved in his work. For the Advent run organizer Erich Clemens, Müller and Weller decide the victory among themselves: “The race is open for women, the cards are being reshuffled.” Claudia Dannheimer from Hamburg, 2019 winner in 1:53:44 hours , did not report.

New winners at the “Spittnapf”

Also over the 9.7 km around the Küchensee, 2019 winner Benjamin Franke (32:34 minutes) is not at the start on Sunday, but the fastest woman of 2019, Julia Jablonowski (Hamburg / 37:23). There will also be new names on the winners’ lists in the short double round for the “Spittnapf”.
