Forza Horizon 5 offers you the opportunity to race through an open Mexico. The real fun comes from the huge selection of cars that you can collect. This also includes convertibles, only a handful of which have a special function. You can open the top on these special models.

Update am 26. November: We have adapted the article to clear up the confusion. The eight convertibles quoted from the headline are the convertibles in the game that have the convertible top function or officially, according to the developers, will still be available. There are more convertibles than eight in the game.

Opening the convertible top is a new feature for Forza Horizon 5

For the first time in Forza Horizon history, you can actually open the top and then move your head around in the fresh air. Since the function is new, the Playground Games studio is still working on the implementation. (via YouTube / LemonFormula77)

Therefore there are some restrictions so far:

  • Cars have to come to a complete standstill in order to open the convertible top when driving freely.
  • Some cars do not have an animation when the deck is opened.
  • So far, some cars have only been able to adjust their convertible top in Vista mode.

Playground Games is currently still working hard on the function, which is why there should be more cars in the future that offer the feature. So far it is only possible for four cars to drive with the adjustable roof during the free journey, four more have been announced.

Adjusting the convertible top is or will be possible in these cars so far:

  • 2018 Ferrari Portofino (Free travel mode possible, with animation)
  • 2019 McLaren 720S Spider (Free travel mode possible, with animation)
  • 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster (Free travel mode possible, no animation)
  • 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder (you have to adjust the convertible top in Vista mode and then drive off)
  • 2003 Honda S2000 (so far only in Vista, no animation, free ride is yet to come)
  • 2016 Mazda MX-5 (does not work yet, Vista and free travel are still to come)
  • 2013 Mazda MX-5 (so far only in Vista, with animation, free travel is still to come)
  • 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG (does not work yet, Vista and free travel are still to come)

That’s all eight convertibles in play with a convertible top function or will be available in the future. There are more convertibles in the game than just these eight. You can get an overview of all cars here:

So you open the top: If you are in a convertible with the top that can be opened, you have to come to a complete standstill. Then a small symbol flashes on the left under the radar. As soon as you push in the left analog stick (L3), the animation or the transformation is triggered. Then you can drive off and feel the digital wind in your face.

Forza Horizon 5 news articles:

In Forza Horizon 5, you get most of the cars through games and the so-called wheelspins, a kind of lucky lottery. But there are also 14 cars that you first have to find on the map and then restore. In our article we show you all the barn finds that are waiting for you in Mexico.

Are you happy that the convertible top can finally be open when driving a convertible?
