New World: Players Missing Items After Rollback – Developers Explain What Happened

New World has struggled with issues since its new November 24th update. At first the players had too much gold, now they are missing their items. The developers are working on it, but warn that it could take longer.

These are the current problems: New World received a new update on Wednesday, November 24th. In this, many players should get their money back for certain promotions. However, this created a number of problems.

Immediately after the update, many fans found tons of thalers in their pockets that they shouldn’t have had at all. This is apparently due to an error in the distribution of the compensation.

With this money, a number of players then bought the trading post empty – literally. On some servers there was nothing left to buy. The developers responded with a rollback, which restored an old state before the patch.

This required further maintenance work, which lasted from Wednesday to Thursday night. Now, however, many players are complaining in the official forumthat they are suddenly missing items that they had before the patch.

Trading post deactivated – items will come back later

What the developers say: The rollback resets the servers to a point before the update. In addition, the trading post is currently deactivated, as developer Lane explains in a blog post – in the German forum translated by Community Manager Tosch. This is said to have led to the fact that items or talers are now missing.

However, the lost items have not completely disappeared, but only currently in a kind of “limbo”. As soon as the problem with the trading post is resolved, the missing items should be returned.

However, as Lane explains, this can take a while. In the post it says:

We are already working on the resetting of the trading post contracts, but we cannot yet estimate how much time it will take to do so. […]

To be clear: no items are lost when the trading post is deactivated. Any apparently missing items will be restored at the trading post after the data operation.

A few players who were using one of the server transfers at the time of the rollback no longer had access to their characters. However, this problem should have been resolved by now. At the same time, there is already a plan for the future to address one of the biggest criticisms:

When is the trading post coming back? So far there is no specific time for when the trading post and thus also the supposedly lost items will come back. The last maintenance work took almost 10 hours. So it is possible that the problem will be resolved later in the day.

The developers are working to ensure that there is as little inconvenience as possible for the players. With the last problem with gold dupers, Amazon found a solution that should be satisfactory for most fair players:
