LoL: The greatest talent in Europe leaves Fnatic in a dispute with a German player

In League of Legends there is hubbub around the top European team Fnatic. In 2021 they signed the French Adam “Adam” Maanane (19), who had a strong season and won the prize for the best rookie in Europe in 2021. But at the Worlds 2021 there was apparently so much trouble with the German botlaner Upset that Adam has now left the team.

That was the situation at Fnatic:

  • 2021 didn’t go well for Fnatic until drastic measures were taken to save the season. In May 2021, the only 19-year-old Adam was brought into the top lane and the actual top laner Bwipo was transported into the jungle. Adam won the award for “Rookie of the Year in Summer 2021”.
  • Adam had a strong season and Fnatic was still able to qualify for the Worlds. At the Worlds, however, Botlaner Upset left before the first match. Without the German, Fnatic was eliminated 1-5.
  • After the Worlds, Adam surprisingly announced that he was leaving Fnatic. Now it becomes clear: This was done out of frustration with the behavior of Upset.

19-year-old sees Fnatic’s behavior as “fraud”

Why is Adam gone? The Frenchman makes it clear on Twitter: His surprising departure from Fnatic is now his decision alone.

Above all, he was frustrated that Upset let the team down without giving any reasons. As far as Adam knows, Upset only left because his girlfriend felt lonely and lousy.

In the aftermath of the World Cup, Upset would have tried to knock him out of the team and instead sign the experienced top laner Alphari. Upset is planning to change the entire top of the map anyway, so Midlaner Nisqy would have to leave as well.

When Adam heard that Fnatic wanted to replace him, it felt like a scam to him. Adam says he tried to talk to Upset, who conveyed that he would not meet his expectations.

Adam thinks he played a very important role in the success of Fnatic and is now apparently angry that he has nothing to say as a rookie. As a farewell, Adam explains that he has many fond memories of Fnatic, but that he will leave the team because he cannot approve of what happened there.

“That’s an outright lie,” says Upset

What does Upset say? The German Elias “Lipp” Upset (21) comments on Adam’s allegations (via twitter). He feels unfairly portrayed that he told coach Yamato the reasons for his departure from the Worlds, but not the others. He did not want to make himself or his family vulnerable, because he knew how quickly things circulated on the Internet and that some were just waiting to hurt others.

His wife would never ask him to leave the worlds. When people say that about his wife, it hurts him especially. People who attacked his wife on the basis of assumption without having any insight are the last.

The claim that he only told his team before leaving that his wife was doing badly was an outright lie.

He told the team what deep pain he felt.

Upset got married in 2021.

On the matter with Alphari, Upset says: This is a former teammate and friend of his. Alphari asked to speak to Upset after first contacting Fnatic. But the team makes the decision who to sign and they only gave it for feedback.

Of course, he wants to surround himself with the players who, in his opinion, make the best team. He is as transparent as possible.

Upset expressly did not want to comment on the collaboration with Adam.

Similar to Upset’s wife, the girlfriend of Fnatic player Bwipo was also in the crosshairs of fans during LoL Worlds 2021:
