Zelda Breath of the Wild is set to get a sequel and maybe we’ll finally find out the official title at the Game Awards in 2021.

The Zelda Breath of the Wild sequel was announced almost exactly two and a half years ago. Now Game Awards host Geoff Keighley is making our mouths water by writing about a very special world premiere that he has been working on for two and a half years. Can it be a coincidence? Many fans believe: No. They hope that we will finally see more of the BotW successor at the big event and maybe even find out the official name of the game.

Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 at the Game Awards: clues seem to be condensing

What’s the matter? Nintendo announced almost exactly two and a half years ago that a sequel to the megahit Zelda Breath of the Wild was in development, with this mysterious trailer:

After that, nothing came up for a long time, at least nothing new to the BotW sequel. Until finally another trailer followed. For the first time, it shows scenes that are apparently straight from the Gameplay originate from the game. Apparently we are at lofty heights, possibly even a connection to Skyward Sword.

BotW 2 at the Game Awards? Since the announcement, Zelda fans have been hoping for more news and information about the BotW sequel. The game’s title has still not been revealed either. Maybe that could happen at the big Game Awards event that is coming up very soon. A well-known leaker has already stated that something like this is supposedly planned:

New Zelda BotW 2 teaser? Now, Game Awards host Geoff Keighley may even be in the same vein. At least one of his tweets can be interpreted in this way and it would also fit well with the previous rumors. Even if the statement itself remains rather vague. So, as usual, you should enjoy the whole thing with due caution until we officially know.

That speaks for it: Geoff Keighley says he’s honored to be able to show a world premiere at the Game Awards, which he has been working on with the developers for two and a half years. The timing would fit perfectly, as Zelda BotW 2 was announced two and a half years ago.

The following tweet could also fit into the picture, after all, Geoff Keighley mentions international trips. So he might have been to Nintendo in Japan if this was going to be Zelda BotW 2.

That speaks against it: It doesn’t have to be Breath of the Wild 2, it could just as easily be a different, previously unknown game. Depending on the definition, a new trailer for the Zelda Breath of the Wild sequel wouldn’t necessarily be a world premiere. After all, it was revealed a long time ago that the game was coming. On the other hand, previously unpublished material and the unveiling of the official title could also pass as a world premiere.

how do you see it? How do you define the term world premiere for you?
