WoW: Little imp becomes legend, defeats raid boss “alone”

Imp are quite useless in World of Warcraft. But sometimes a little gnome is all it takes to kill the raid boss.

When you think of demons in World of Warcraft, the first thing that comes to mind are annoying devil guards in PvP or big top dogs like Sargeras or Archimonde. Few would waste their first thought on the little gnomes that warlocks occasionally carry with them. And yet it is precisely these pixies that can sometimes be very big – and make a kill.

What happened? In the fight against the fate writer Roh-Kalo, things actually looked pretty good for the raid group. The boss was already cut down to a few percentage points and there was not much left to get the kill. But time was running out. Because while the DPS characters fired out what they could, the rune circle mechanics were running in the background. The mechanics require the players to put different runes in certain sockets. If that doesn’t happen, the whole raid will be wiped out – and that’s exactly what happens.

All players are suddenly wiped out. Only two “spirits of redemption” of the priests are standing – and an imp, who continued to shoot his little fireballs at the boss. Although there is no player left in the end, the little pet still manages to secure victory, as this short clip shows:

Why was the imp still alive? Pets like demons actually disappear instantly when their master dies. However, thanks to the soul bond, there are some passive effects in Shadowlands with which the players “live on” for a few seconds after their death. So Nekrolords can fight on for a few seconds with reduced strength, while Venthyr remain briefly as a stone statue, which then bursts.

The sorcerer had exactly the same effect and that gave the brave pixie the necessary seconds to secure the kill for the entire raid.

It is also clear that the imp was of course not entirely responsible for the fact that the boss was defeated in the end. At least some DOTs and debuffs ticked the boss, which in the end lead to his demise.

Nevertheless, it is funny to see that the whole raid is in the dust and only the imp bravely continues to fight. At the next family reunion in the Nether, he will certainly have a lot to tell.

Have you ever had such a tight boss kill, in which the whole raid practically died? Or are they always just legends that “the other” always experience?
